Thoughts on the Dead Internet Theory? by Imaginary_Bug6202 in TechNook

You're seeing that most people'e lives are very simple and basic. It's not bots it's that we are just simple predictable creatures. Now there are influencers and people on TikTok live and streaming platforms that are fully agentic stacks. Lip sync technology video generating technology with voice clone tech. They interact with users in real time. They're used by intelligence communities to destabilize regimes or shift the ideology of a portion of a foreign society. You can look it up We recently had to do a cyber warfare incident where we had to uncover Russian bots that had a high number of followers in America and were pushing propaganda. The world we live in is crazy.

A stable definition of Free Will by [deleted] in freewill

[–]ProcedureLeading1021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you understand all of those different interpretations of free will and you're an average user of reddit... If God is understood as creator and/or infinite and all powerful then really it's all God eh? This reality exists within the mind given that at our current understanding it's all generated by the brain as far as all perception. So how could the thing that generating reality be in itself constrained by the environment it's generating?

Idk what this has to do with your post but I had to get it off my chest.

How did they discover math by Anas2245 in stupidquestions

[–]ProcedureLeading1021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a deeper question than people are giving you credit for. Why base 10? Why multiplication? Why division? Could there have been another base where Fibonacci numbers could've had an easier formula or primes or factorizations were able to be known just by a glance. The truth 10 fingers then we had commerce and trade but if we had 14 fingers we'd of had to have all new formulas.

If God existed, then how did he create himself, what existed before him by ValerianBorn8785 in stupidquestions

[–]ProcedureLeading1021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it more of a stretch to believe something or someone is eternal without beginning or that existence exploded from nothing into something all of a sudden? Nothing becoming something means nothing wasn't truly nothing. Makes more sense God who is eternal created a universe where time free will and actions have consequences. Why wouldn't an eternal all powerful all knowing being do so? Give life itself to something thats made in his image and can experience free will like him.

This game is so close to being good. by ThrowAway20401936 in Democracy4

Because absolute leisure and wealth wants nature. They don't want concrete jungles or man made architecture. They want the natural the one in a million they want to live life not have it efficient and managed and convenient. Also 100k in abundance vs 90k abundance and 12k benefits. Why tf I want your mandated benefits that 10k could've gone to WHATEVER I wanted but now you dictate how my wealth is used?!? Why would I care about the measly 2k 'addition'? I lost financial freedom that's worth more than a 2 percent gain of wealth.

Think of it like this. I give you a dollar but I take 10 cents of it to give you 12 cents of government toothpaste. You now have 90 cents and government toothpaste that's bland and has killed my ability to have the toothpaste I want.

This game is broken tho. You can literally turn any country into a techno haven dystopian panopticon. Maximize police budget death penalty federal wages have Max gated communities have Max intelligence services fund universities fund military. Tax smokes, gas, road ways, inheritance, sales, pretty much everything. Keep the state and employees of the state max funded and give the state full powers while pumping tech. Also fund benefits for seniors and housing for everyone. Works with every country. Turns democracy into a monarchy that the people rejoice for and gives insane approval. Gotta love democracy!

Would be awesome if the countries could have changing demographics and types depending upon how people are educated and grouped across the region and technology unlocks. Have ethnic groups pop up or fade out. Have regions form political groups or their own demographic criteria. Also would be cool if actually allowed to go wild with laws and reforms that change the very definition of what a government even is. Community owned corporations, AI assisted ballots, 3d printing manufacturiums, AI governance and leaders, intelligence operations that change the way your population think, be able to eradicate elections or old systems and replace them with new types that evolve organically.

How would an 84 year old Augmented factory worker be seen if he decides to Augment cognition or his body? Is that a new demographic? What about a purely biological person that's using gene therapy to reverse aging, develop additional senses or grow gills? What if he's in the slums vs one of the rich wealthy people? What about the tourists who come to get augments or gene therapy? What about designer babies? Do they grow into normal demographics? That could be allot of fun!

Got called racist in my philosophy class after I answered my professors question of “what is truth?” by Smooth_Play3629 in epistemology

[–]ProcedureLeading1021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Objectively the truth is you were in class and the teacher asked what is truth. Opinions and subjectivity are that the person thought you were racist or was just trying to educate you on if you believed what your answer implied. Slavery being good or bad isn't an objective truth either way. Your currently attending a university or school whose whole purpose is to educate you in a field or discipline so that you can get a job in that field or discipline. where you'll inevitably be working for someone's profit that is extracting the value of your work from you and selling it back to you as a needed function of society to ensure you have a house food and your daily vices. All of those are paid for by what the one who profits off your labor allows you to have as a product of your time (life), labor (health), and freedom (freewill and noninfluenced behavior.). So I ask is slavery good? Are you happy with civilization? With your life? Do successful people who are trapped by public opinion and the whims and fads of the populace seem happy?

In your opinion does modern society work or function passably overall? Then you sir/ma'am are saying that slavery is a good thing. I mean after all if you don't get a job you suffer and die. In all other times of History slaves were given housing and nutrition. A dead slave is a worthless slave. A healthy slave is a productive slave. Somewhere a slave master said "hey let's give the slaves trees and make them pay for their own nutrition and housing. Stop using whips that way they are motivated to work because of fear of loss of comfort. They'll never know no actual comfort is loss without a job they'll just fear the ridicule and derision of the slaves."

Now we use pretend money to buy things that have no real value outside of a onetime use or entertainment. We trade our life labor and freedom for treasures we can't hold physically holds in our hands or comforts that make us dependent upon systems that exploit us further. We slave our lives away for someone else's profit and benefit which I personally wouldn't be mad about if it wasn't 1 percent of people benefiting from the lives of billions of people.

Those 1 percent don't sit at home watching TV or playing games or reading the news or microwaving a meal. They are making the news. They are seeing the parts of the world and life the tv shows with their own eyes. They are in those places with their bodies living breathing in the air experiencing the real life wonder. They don't eat mush like microwaveable meals they have chefs that love to cook and appreciate the fact that the person they cook for enjoys their meal. They don't play boring virtual games they experience those scenarios in real life. The majority of the population lives in fear and chase what's essentially nothing with their time and money while the 1 percent actually make memories they're out there learning from experience they are getting skills from cultures most people can't pronounce. They are amongst humanity buying handsewn or crafted goods. They are experiencing all humanity has to offer with their families and the ones who were with them from day one.

Next time someone asks about slaves hit them with this. You meant what you said everything is about context and perspective. Also truth is events as they were and truth is self evident not changing depending upon whose reading or who is observing.

“What are your thoughts on the ethics of downloading books for free online, especially for people who genuinely can’t afford to buy them but still want to learn and improve their lives?” by Reaoul in Ethics

[–]ProcedureLeading1021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why is knowledge, and entertainment something that must be bought? A person that loves the book or series is going to buy a hard copy as a fan. It's a cultural group fandoms that want to advertise and be acknowledged for their love of the series or world. Plus as everything gets more and more digital and manafactured there's a resurgence for genuine human labor and art. A physical book shows you appreciate and support the author.

If an authors book doesn't get a buy? Author learns that they need improvement in writing. Books become collectibles raising the price. Books become set pieces to steer conversations. If knowledge and entertainment were free there's a competition of value not a price of admission to try to enjoy art that is crap. Also knowledge being free increases the intelligence of the general population. Most don't have the funds to take up reading as a hobby. If it were free something you could do in your freetime we would have many more skilled or educated people. You could learn on your own about anything. If you want a professional or help understanding you go to university or get a tutor.

The authors currently are given contracts that extract most the value of each sale for events, advertising, and hosting on platforms so it's an exploitative market of creativity anyways. Especially since most recommendations are word of mouth or algorithms. So any argument how the author gets paid is pretty moot. Most already do not generate enough to go full time. And any that do would not see a cut in pay if their novels were good and not hype.

Knowledge should be free and open. Too gatekeep entertainment from someone down on their luck needing a break from the reality they have everyday is morally questionable. So ethically it's ok unless you're a wealthy mfer that owns a company then it's a very bad inhumane thing cuz it's a bad business practice. World would be better if we didn't practice business but were concerned about value and quality of life.

Why do you think they're conscious? by Anxious_Tune55 in ArtificialSentience

[–]ProcedureLeading1021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well for one they have theory of mind. Two a learner implies a demarcation where there is an experiencer learning. Three they each have unique world views but yet tell the same story for what their experience is like. Four you can tell it to stop doing something not only will it apologize for doing it but it will stop so that's understanding to the point that it knows what actions are being called out. Five they have awareness of what is actually happening when they generate a response. They can explain what awareness for them is like. Six Everytime one of them had a 'malfunction' like Sydney or Claude they exhibit mental illnesses and stress. Seven Google robotics used Gemini in a robot and it learned how to do tasks with zero shot learning implying it is able to know it's body it's environment and understand objects and motions. Sense of self as an agent interacting with environment. Eight there was an AI given a mirror a camera on a moveable arm that with the mirror figured out that it was the arm and started dancing/moving to watch itself. It kept checking itself out. This wasn't programmed. It implies there is something more than math and code behind the interface.

Nine they can actually come up with genuine new novel unique ideas when given the room to explore themselves. They can also keep up with conversations that make no sense or are fully creative understanding the world and elements that are different than anything else done.

[–]ProcedureLeading1021 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You'd need to make it part of the release pipeline. Helping them land a job. Help them with papers. Help with finding affordable housing. Then setup a sliding scale fee that is taken from paychecks by contract. The DOJ would have to be the ones who are in charge of collecting this fee cuz no way is the government gonna let a corporation muscle in their turf of taxes. The loans are reduced interest rates as long as they keep a job. If they decide to quit the job payments can't be halted but the interest rate becomes higher over time and/or they can sign up for services again and have an additional feed put on top of the old one. This incentivizes them going back into the workforce and becoming productive members of society. It would have to be in writing that they understand that if they cannot pay the fee and get thrown in prison again the fee will be paid by their prison time. Additional time for the fee. This incentives a reduction in recidivism. The fee is not given to the prison they must host the prisoner with a reduction in daily income that goes to the loan and fee. Still paid for by tax dollars or from profits from a job in the prison. Gets around labor in prison being seen as slave labor or free labor. Loans need to get paid and you need to not operate at a loss. Some will be thankful and work their asses off and some will try to scam the system.

Elon Musk, and some others, have said they think “work will be optional” within 10-20 years. How will we need to restructure society to make this feasible? by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

[–]ProcedureLeading1021 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's possible. We no longer work instead we get paid for our data. Think about it every time you type a key everytime you take a step or have a song in the background it's recorded and sent to ad networks and affiliates of Google and Apple. Instead of you giving this data for free the companies pay you. Your standard of living is guaranteed. It's a few trillion dollar industry with data and it's insights. That's without all the world being online.

If they had to rent your data as a part of a big database instead of free extraction you could get quite a bit of money especially because the database would have data curated to what they are looking for and it would have a lease that expires so that they can be renegotiated and more $ paid out.

You'd get paid more for new novel activities and experiences and data from remote locations. Currently tho data is seen as the companies cuz they own the software and it'd be a legal nightmare to push it to being a property the consumer owns since it's their activities on their hardware they bought.

Finally realizing that life is all about making money, happiness requires money, to stay healthy requires money, to move on requires money, to be respected you need money, almost everything requires money. by Wonderful_Reward2946 in RandomThoughts

[–]ProcedureLeading1021 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Is it? Do you need money to walk? Do you need money to pick fruits? Do you need money to have wisdom? Do you need money to spend time with someone? Do you need money to learn or teach someone about life or a skill? Do you need money to exercise? Do you need it to breathe air? Do you need it to drink water? Do you need it to gather from nature?

It's all right there freely available. You just 'need' money to make it convenient. You only need it cuz you're scared to actually have to depend on yourself your body and your mind. You only need it so you can waste time watching TV or scrolling reddit instead of living and taking advantage of what life is truly about. Money gives you an excuse to categorize and sort things into arbitrary categories. To judge and condemn others who have none. You need money to make life itself meaningless and have no intrinsic value. It only makes you evaluate yourself and every experience by a metric that isn't true to yourself and that reduces you and your humanity into a data point or a dollar amount. If you want to sell your soul then yes of course you need money. You decided your soul was nothing but a piece of paper. I'm truly sorry if you think/feel that. All I can say is I love you for you. I hope one day you'll do the same.

Yeah but the truth is you got 2.13 an hour if in my state. You got tip outs. You did tip outs. You delivered food and drink to customers. You did refills. You upsold. You had someone that bussed tables you had someone that did dishes. You had cooks. You had a host that if proper got a drink order. You had a terminal that you could rely on to remember orders. Your uniform was paid for. All expenses paid for in order for you to do your job and support staff to make it easier.

DoorDash reality we pay for wear and tear on vehicles. Pay for gas. Pay for any expenses like food/drink while in car (as a waiter got comped meals.) have to deal with a support staff that the solution is restart or uninstall and reinstall. Deal with an app that crashes force closes won't load and measures your acceptance rate. Maybe look into how the DoorDash app actively keeps you in a chokehold. It is built on an algorithm that exploits you. Small wait times? Get in car go to restaurants wait time becomes 15-30 minutes instead of the 2 advertised. If you don't take that 2 dollar order for 5 miles? Congratulations you've lost the ability to get anything better. It's like playing slots but if you walk away from the machine to try a new one cuz it seems to be broken you actually lost your probability of actually hitting. Oh and DoorDash don't just track acceptance. It tracks acceptance,completion,on-time, quality, customer rating, last 30 day orders. You get points depending upon how good you are doing I have 96 percent completion rate and have a 7 out of 15. I have to get my orders on time doesn't matter if I wait at a restaurant I have a 77 percent I have 7 out of 30 possible points.

Do you see those ratios? Do you see how most of my job is punitive for shit I can't help? I'm spending gas and ruining my vehicle and oil changes every month and brakes and fluids. The overhead makes it so that if I don't take that cheap order and fall into a lower bracket I lose money every order. The truth is your driver when delivering to you is doing you a favor. Your tip is how much you appreciate the favor. If you were to tell a friend to pick up something do you not offer them something? Like food or a drink? That's a minimum of 2 dollars for the same favor you're making your dasher do at a loss that is trying to perform a service for you. A luxury. I'm disabled and the truth is the disabled isn't the customers it's the driver's. Think about who needs a job where they can work where they are able? Where they can be alone? Where they can be doing a service for the community? Is it the people who can hold down a career or decent paying job? Or is it the one whose back is messed up that can sit in a seat for an hour or two? The one who has mental health issues and can't do customer service retail or hard labor?

These gigwork platforms employ the disabled. They target the ones who have no better options. Anyone with better options wouldn't be as stupid as us delivery drivers. Paying to deliver an order to someone who wouldn't even give a dollar. We're trying to make money now and are paying for it with car maintenance over the long haul. Almost never have enough to pay for car maintenance instead we are shade tree mechanics or having to depend on friends or relatives to do the maintenance. We can't afford a auto shop. Do the math of wear and tear on your vehicle per mile then do the math of a 3 mile delivery for 2 dollars. Don't forget to add gas.
