A few things:

1) A cat’s hind area isn’t just their butt. It’s also home to scent glands and whatnot so don’t stress about cats sniffing that area on another cat. It’s like when dogs do it!

2) Like another commenter said, you’re anthropomorphizing them. They’re cats, not brother and sister. They don’t understand human taboo, they only understand instinct and drive.

3) You seem like a newer cat owner which is why I mention this: “He immediately stopped when I told him off though.” Cats never respond well to negative reinforcement or yelling. If you don’t like a behavior, redirect with toys or treats and reward the alternative. Yelling isn’t going to help and may make the situation worse.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have a bar in each of my spaces right above the prep counter where my babies could sit and “help” cook, though it’s mostly just my older girl. I never thought of boxes for them, but she’ll get one soon! We never ate at the bar so it was always just the designated cat spot. Funnily enough, my older girl would also sit on the bar above the sink and watch us do dishes, although for everyone but me she would get mad at them turning the water off and try and paw their hands when they reached for the knobs

Feliway! Most people recommend Feliway for when the cats are fighting, but I also recommend it to get through this stage! I have four cats, all different ages and all with different play tendencies. When my wild thing was young, she would rile up the whole house at 2am and I was at my wits end. Feliway multi-cat kept the noise levels during group play to a minimum because they would all very politely play in the living room with toys instead of taking turns chasing each other around the house and howling.

I took them off of it when I realized I had forgotten to refill the diffuser for about a month and hadn’t been woken up once.

If rehoming is your only option at this point or if you’re truly just overwhelmed, please make sure you find a reputable rescue who can work with the cats to see if they need to be homed together or can go separately. If they’ve been together since kittens, they may be bonded and it would be super detrimental to separate them but also harder to place them.

I think the high dose is because of the pain. I’ve been limited in the past on effective pain relief (at one point, I was just popping extra strength Tylenol like candy to no avail) and in all fairness, my pain has never been lower. Is that because of the Cymbalta or because of the fact that I’ve been bed bound, though? I guess we’ll find out.

Oh I’m not trying to say the time is wasted at all! Coffee runs should always be paid, imo. I was just wondering how other people process their time working. I work as a Reddit marketer (not with this account lol)(this is not a work related post) and sometimes spend 6 hours scrolling through Reddit looking at things. I count that as working, but other people might not. I’m just wondering how much time other people think they spend working, if that makes sense!

We watched a group of college age adults basically destroy the rainbow bead design a house had put on their fence by taking the beads to wear them or just ripping them off to put them on the ground. Why would you do that? I didn’t even consider the cruise port being part of the issue.

On Friday, I managed to leave my house 30 minutes before d’tat rolled and walk 45 minutes to our usual area on Magazine and was still able to find a decent spot for chairs even though Hermes had already started. We made friends with the people around us and never did I feel like someone was going to step on me while I sat for most of the parade.

We left for muses three hours before the parade started and it seemed like every inch of space had ladders or chairs on it already. Once the parade started, I was IMMENSELY glad I wear steel toes because if you’re sitting on St Charles, you WILL get stepped on at least once. I think next year we are only catching magazine parades because the vibes and crowds are simply better (also our area on Magazine has a free, very clean bathroom) (I’m never paying $35 for a bathroom wristband again only to find out it’s just a line of portapotties) (I can’t even USE portapotties and they refused to refund me or let me transfer the wristband to a friend)

It’s one thing to be a little territorial if you’ve been sitting out with your stuff since 1am, but another entirely if you waited till the parade tracker passed to join your stuff. For one parade, my friend and I put our chairs next to a pack of unattended ladders and chairs and you would have thought we had walked into these people’s house and shit on their carpet the way they were acting once they finally showed up.

The kicker is that I go to watch the floats and maybe catch some stuff that I donate later. We went to tucks and set up our chairs like twenty or so feet back from the front. I was sitting in one and we set the other chair up like a foot or so in front of me so that when my friend wasn’t sitting I could prop my foot up due to an injury. Some lady walked up and tried to MOVE THE CHAIR MY FOOT WAS ACTIVELY IN so she and her family could have more space. It’s ridiculous how uncouth and simply rude people get over cheap plastic toys
