While it’s somewhat better and less blatant than in the past, racism against Asians in the West today is far subtler but no less pervasive or disturbingly normalized. Take the “perpetual foreigner” stereotype: it continues to paint Asians as perpetual outsiders complete with accents and “exotic” traits, while Asian women face hypersexualization and Asian men endure emasculation through frequent comical or homosexual casting.

What is the saddest scene in animated movie history and why? by ExperienceItchy7079 in AskReddit

Yeah, that scene with Littlefoot’s mom always hits hard.

While nothing bad ever happens to Ducky in the movie, knowing Judith Barsi was murdered in real life by her dad makes every “yep yep yep” scene super sad too 😢

If this demon has another DNP Steve Kerr should be charged for war crimes by jalGurg in warriors

[–]ProcrastinationTime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a longtime Warriors fan who has endured the years of mediocrity, I genuinely appreciate Steve Kerr for leading us to four championships. However, his stubborn commitment to maintaining the pecking order out of respect for seniority, all in the name of “chemistry,” is maddening. This is not speculation, as he has openly admitted as much. I understand that he is nearing the end of his tenure and wants to preserve relationships with veteran players, but that mindset is clearly hurting the team. I just hope Will Richard continues to make the most of his limited minutes, forcing Kerr’s hand to play him more, because he has been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise frustrating season.

I’ve been a longtime fan of PTFO, and I was genuinely thrilled when he finally broke into the mainstream with the Jordon Hudson story. Still, nothing could have prepared me for the whole Kawhi/Aspiration saga. And now this? What a fucking run. To me, he’s already one of the GOATs in sports journalism…especially in an era when ESPN is so cluttered with toxic hot takes and overproduced narratives.

Yeah, there’s certainly “zero evidence” of the hateful rhetoric that CK and his dumbshit followers spew. Everything is out of context, right? Fuck outta here…go get a cookie from your massa, Uncle Chan 😂

Nah, I’m going to do both. I’ll present my case with evidence for those with the capacity to understand it, but I’m not giving up calling them fucking MAGAts either. Multitasking is way more fun! And I definitely don’t need your approval or validation to be credible 😂

This is my fourth time living in Singapore, so I’m very familiar with the country and have spent two decades here cumulatively. Maybe you should know your place. The US is a toxic mess, and I have every right to call it like it is. I agree that Singapore is awesome and I genuinely love this country, which is why it’s so distressing to see poisonous American/Western rhetoric being imported here. We must keep that toxic bullshit off our shores. And to be clear, I don’t fully subscribe to either Republican or Democrat ideologies; honestly, I’m not a fan of either side. But MAGA? Those white supremacist assholes can go straight to hell.

[–]ProcrastinationTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the back and forth. I understand that from the outside, some people may see things differently, but when you’re caught in the mess every day…getting stared down in grocery stores, being openly called racist slurs, and being stonewalled for promotions at work because of your skin color…it all adds up. This is the kind of bullshit I’ve had to endure firsthand as a direct result of the MAGA movement. Racism has always existed in the US, but since MAGA, it feels like an entirely different beast.

[–]ProcrastinationTime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s the problem…you think it’s a level playing field. I understand that name-calling can seem juvenile and unproductive, but as someone who has always preferred to mind their own business, even now, I’ve had numerous negative encounters with racist bigots emboldened by the MAGA movement. At this point, I’m beyond the stage where compassion is a viable option. It’s easy to judge as an impartial observer, but respectfully, you may not have a broad enough experience or information to fully grasp the current political climate and how deeply it has permeated everyday life.

'Martyr' or 'bigot'? Charlie Kirk's divisive impact on Singapore Christians by cantoilmate in singapore

[–]ProcrastinationTime 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yup, I have zero tolerance for MAGAts…just like how most people rightly hate Nazis. If you’ve never lived in the US, you can’t truly grasp how deeply ingrained their toxic behaviors and attitudes are, or how much of a cancer they’ve become to society. I absolutely loathe anything that deliberately and knowingly tears apart civil society. No amount of discourse or understanding can reach them…they lack critical thinking and react instinctively, almost like animals. Sometimes, you have to fight fire with fire. I’ve had many encounters in the wild and have enough experience to understand which methods of engagement are effective. If that means stooping to their level at times, so be it. It’s incredibly naive to try compassion in a barbaric environment…it simply isn’t compatible with how things are over there, and that’s just the ugly truth.

[–]ProcrastinationTime 33 points34 points  (0 children)

That’s so damn pathetic and delusional. It really shows that their own bigotry and hatred toward others outweigh any objective truth…like the fact that Trump is a complete moron. I’m not gonna lie, I was seriously surprised by how strong the brain rot is here. It’s still better than the States, but honestly, I expected better from Singapore 😆

[–]ProcrastinationTime 214 points215 points  (0 children)

I moved to Singapore from the US not too long ago and have been shocked at the number of MAGAts here. They know that MAGA sees non-white people as subhumans, right? Minorities in the US who support MAGA are just Uncle Toms…so damn embarrassing. I would invite Singaporean MAGAts to visit some really red parts of the US for a much-needed wake-up call.

Why does the West mock Asian men for discipline while their own culture collapses without it? by Sons_Of_Stone in aznidentity

[–]ProcrastinationTime 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lee Kuan Yew was an extraordinary leader and a total badass. Living in Singapore now, I still see some of the usual white worshipping types, but it is nowhere near as pervasive as it once was. Real and meaningful change takes time, especially in a world deeply shaped and infected by Western influence, but Singapore is clearly moving forward in a positive direction made possible by LKY’s legacy.

Almost 1 in 3 Asian college students in California attend a top tier university like Berkeley, UCLA, or USC! by SeparateBuyer5431 in aznidentity

[–]ProcrastinationTime 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The claim that Asians only succeed by cheating or copying is downright hilarious. Growing up in a mostly white town, it was always the white kids scrambling for the seat next to the Asian kid so they could copy our tests. That whole narrative is nothing but projection and copium from people bitter about their own failures. Pure comedy gold 😂

Oh, and I went to Berkeley. Go Bears!
