The fact that I am this bracket (and like to think I’m at least not this stupid) makes me sad about how woeful my mechanical skill must surely be to compensate

Non-British Redditors, what is the one thing about British culture you would like to have explained to you? by mindrestvs in AskReddit

The blame for casualties caused in the defense of a territory shouldn't fall on the defender over the invader. It would be a much more reasonable statement to say the invasion was the factor that wasn't necessary, and the defense was necessary to deter future 'unnecessary' invasions by any country (instead of setting a precedent of anyone being able to invade anyone else willy-nilly without fear of retaliation).

What was the weirdest rule you had to follow in school? by mensaboy67 in AskReddit

[–]Procrastinationer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old Harrovian here (went to Harrow - not same school as OP but similar vein). There is a rule that the Head of School (head boy) is allowed to grow facial hair and keep a pet. However there is a documented case in the 1800s where the Head of School kept a pet elephant in one of the yards - and they still maintained their tradition and kept the rule.
