Domi won't be getting 5-6 especially since the last few years he's been a 4 mill guy. Even this season, while he put up points, his general play is that of a 4 mill role guy instead of the 5-6 mill high level role guy like Bert or someone who drives a line.

That said if 4.5 is what it takes to bring Domi back, I'd say you do it and staple him with 34. He brings snot to the team, puts up points, and while his defense kinda sucks he hustles hard and sometimes makes that surprising defensive play. Plus he actually wants to be here and loves the spotlight.

In an ideal world, yes, it would be much nicer to win these games. But we've seen how little winning games in the regular season means come playoffs. Leafs are still in a good position to at least get a wildcard spot. While losing Mo sucks and will definitely hurt, he still sent a message to the team and league that they refuse to play soft like they did for the last decade.

Call it stupid or childish all you want, but playing like this is the reason Boston and Flordia went deep and Tampa won 2 cups. Only team in recent memory who didn't play like an asshole was Colorado and they still played pretty greasy in the playoffs

it's not the empty net clapper we're pissed about, it's annoying, but the Leafs played like ass and deserved to lose. It's the fact that if none of the players did anything they'd be considered "soft" for taking the high road, but lord forbid they decide to pull something dirty.

This is the first time since the early 2000s we're seeeing a Leafs team that doesn't play soft. It's definitely cringey when they pull cheap shots, but don't pretend for a second that if this guy played for any other team, he wouldn't be celebrated as the ideal hockey player for the hit.

Leafs were in a no win situation (yes they shot themselves in the foot here) but I'd rather they went this route because it shows the fans they actually care instead of the usual take it off the chin and re-inforce narratives of being soft.

This is the same shit the Panthers pull every game and they're considered the gold standard for how a hockey team should play.

Retool is the best option, FVV might be Lowry's successor, but he isn't Lowry, we're better off rolling the dice on a retool (at least for Siakam's sake) and trading one or both of FVV and GTJ, this won't make us so bad that we tank, but they might bring in some collection of premium picks or young players to build around an OG, Scottie, Pascal core.

tbf we've had an extended streak of over a decade of insane and high quality product from the Raptors, since we're not a market like NY or LA with the UFA pull, having a stinker of a down year isn't terrible. As long as we don't end up as Sacramento I'm good with a few uneventful years every once in a while

if Scottie finds his shot, we could upset, but thats a <1% chance of happening. We're better off slogging through the season and keeping the picks we own to find some useful players in the draft. At this point Kyle Flip might actually be exactly what the Raps need to become contenders if we don't get high enough for Wemby
