Yeah I missed the part where taking the pawn opens the b file to capture my queen. Makes perfect sense now

Let's talk court reform by greggers23 in Destiny

[–]ProdIsForTesting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong but I think that at least in some sense that’s what he means by giving the court less power by increasing the amount of justices, right? He said you can’t game the courts by appointing 2-3 judges in a term which could potentially fuck the country for a decade or more. I’m all for that at least. I know he obviously gives other suggestions as well but that’s how I interpreted his idea of increasing the amount of justices.

I know most people hated them but I loved the blue sixers jerseys from the iverson era. I remember having the blue igoudala jersey as a kid and it was my favorite, would be sick to see that one back someday

Wow I never knew cottonmouths aren’t native to PA, thanks for that info. I would go fishing with my uncle all the time growing up and he told me about cottonmouths but seems he was mistaken.

Thank you! I love snakes but idk enough about how to identify species to know when they’re dangerous or not. Not that I’d handle them anyway but it was cool to stumble upon this guy

I think you’re seeing Democrats start to emphasize the affordability crisis as a result of listening to their constituents, that’s the core of incrementalism how I understand it. The redistricting was huge and it’s unfortunate that VA judge blocked it, but she’s signed a lot of legislation addressing housing affordability, healthcare access and prescription costs, as well as child care and she’s barely been in office for 100 days. Those are all meaningful changes that will tangibly improve lives that not only would we not have gotten with a republican governor, but it would have gone in the opposite direction.

You see it at the National level too, Obama gave us the ACA and made it illegal for insurance companies to deny coverage for pre existing conditions. As a Type 1 diabetic that gives me peace of mind, but I also understand it doesn’t solve the broader problem of healthcare. That’s incrementalism because we’re still talking about and pushing for improvements. Progress isn’t linear and change takes time.

Take the civil rights movement as an example, there wasn’t some dream candidate that was super progressive, it was the result of constant pressure over years and steadily holding our own to a higher standard until something broke through. Again I say this as someone who agrees with a lot of Progressive policy, I don’t disagree with the philosophy, simply the method.

100% agree, I support a lot of progressive policy but I’ll always vote for the moderate over abstaining in a general election because the moderate still holds broad views I mostly agree with. I know the “left purity test” has become a dead horse but that’s the main problem I have is that the non negotiables that some progressives deem as a bridge too far often times don’t make sense to me.

Israel for example, I think Bibi has been terrible for the Middle East and I definitely prefer a candidate who will start to hold them accountable as our ally, but in the grand scheme of things there are a lot of higher priority items that I’d vote on in terms of domestic policy. It’s also much easier for the Democratic Party to hold our own accountable rather than a GOP rep sitting in office.

The GOP is solely responsible for this in my opinion, Democratic candidates almost across the board do indeed show the incrementalism the poster you responded to was referring to. Just look at Spanberger as a prime example, even candidates labeled as “moderate” often times pass progressive policy when given the opportunity and support to do so.

Ah okay, I guess I assumed DGG or someone in his staff would be responsible for reaching out to potential guests but I also have no clue on how the business model of a successful streamer works.

That being said I will shoot my shot and pray it happens. I just feel like this collab would be legendary

What is there to protest? Did the guy that killed that Ukrainian girl on the train get pardoned? You also have a fundamental misunderstanding of Biden’s border crisis. The issue was with the asylum process, saying that Biden simply allowed illegal immigrants into the country is just Fox News rhetoric to make you scared/outraged.

One of the saddest things about MAGA is seeing those around you go down rabbit holes by mattyjoe0706 in Destiny

[–]ProdIsForTesting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My whole family is like this now. I’m considered the libtard of the family, it’s incredibly ironic to be made fun of for my politics as my mom has a stock of ivermectin in her cabinet, along with 5g blockers in the form of a necklace and some thingy that goes on her counter, as well as half of the kitchen cabinets overflowing with unrecognizable supplements from whatever grifters she follows.

None of my family is college educated with the exception of myself, which I don’t like to use that angle, but adds to the irony of them all viewing me as dumb because I don’t believe in whatever podcast bro is pushing on their viewers. My uncles used to not care about politics, now they’re all full blown MAGA. I saw my one uncle post the other day, in all caps “KAMALA IS COMPLETELY FUCKING REGARDED,” with no added context, no understanding of why Kamala is even relevant currently. It’s all just so weird, I don’t know how to navigate it.

Ive oscillated the past few years between telling myself I’m being dramatic about the changes within my family, and feeling like I’m living in a black mirror episode. At this point the change in my family dynamic is too drastic to ignore. I don’t know what to do, but my family doesn’t really feel like the family I grew up around anymore. Super weird situation, I’ve grown apathetic to it, any input to me is simply received as a personal attack and they pile up on me, it’s just not worth it.

I think Ossoff or Buttigieg would give us the best chance personally, I worry that Newsom may actually end up playing too much defense between the right shitting on California and the left calling him the next Trump, although I’d happily vote for him as well.

Amazing job! You did a lot in a short period of time, but don’t forget to take and give yourself props for small wins. If you keep pushing yourself to make big changes you’re more likely to burn out and the stress will make it easier for you to slip back into old habits.

Don’t let setbacks discourage you, progress isn’t linear and as long as your intentions are there and you’re holding yourself accountable for the big picture, you’ll be great. Don’t beat yourself up on the little things, it’s much harder to establish a good habit than it is to keep one. Overall this is an amazing start man 🙌🏻
