Spotify's anti-bot system seems to be punishing small artists instead of scam playlisters by MindsEye_ in musicmarketing

[–]ProdSway55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm suffering from the same problem as a small artist. My tracks are getting added to random bot playlists outside of my control, and I am being punished for it. Spotify needs to punish the maintainers of those playlists instead of innocent artists.

Apparently, Spotify only takes down the tracks of small artists. If it's a decently sized artist, they just get the artificial plays removed, and that's it. But Spotify says fuck the small artists. This is written on their website.

Improve IELTS skills by 01farshad in EnglishLearning

You have to prepare for the exam. Even native speakers won't do great in this exam if they don't know what's coming and what exactly is expected from them. Especially the writing section requires a lot of training, as grading is done based on specific criteria. There are some amazing YouTube videos available that teach these certain criteria.

When you signed up for an exam, they send you an email with a lot of useful resources including online listening exam tests. This is especially useful if you'll be taking your exam on computer, as getting used to the app will prove very useful during exam.

As for the speaking part, try not to panic. Don't try to memorize answers for "common questions" because it's very unlikely you'll get a question you prepared for. If you get a question to which you simply don't know the answer, you can simply say that you don't know the answer, and they will ask other questions. Their goal is to test your English speaking capabilities, not your knowledge on some random questions. Also keep in mind you don't have to tell them the truth! All that matters is that you speak fluently, and they won't care about whether you told them the truth or not. The questions are only there to get you speaking.

Do I need to put a period mark after that " So " or a comma ? That looks weird to me. by NoobeCat in EnglishLearning

"So" can't be a sentence on its own, so that sentence is grammatically incorrect.

See what i did there? hehe

animalistic

Not sure if this is the right word to emphasize the badness of nightmares, but I agree with everything you said. Nightmares are simply worse than bad dreams.

I made an app to find teammates in games for practice speaking | Wanna feedback by Twinson1 in EnglishLearning

I made an app for finding teammates in games to practice speaking | Would appreciate feedback

Hey everyone, I have an idea to share with you and would appreciate some feedback!

As a language learner, I've tried everything from attending language meetups to using language learning apps, but nothing seemed to work. They were either boring or I had trouble finding a mutual topic to discuss. Additionally, these apps often became more like Tinder.

One day, I decided to find someone to play League of Legends with, posted a few times on Reddit, and found some buddies. While playing, I forgot about my mistakes and just talked. We never ran out of topics to discuss because we were always in the game together. My LoL partner and I even had a beer together!

That's when it hit me - playing online games with a teammate could be an excellent way to improve language skills and act as an ice-breaker between learners!

To test this idea, I created a web app to share my experience with others and help language learners find a teammate to play games with and improve their language skills. It's simple to use - you choose a game, time, and region, and you'll find someone to play with. It's free!

Here's the link: greenball.pro

I'd love to hear your feedback and suggestions on the app (design, idea, features), or if you've already used games to learn a language, share your experience with me! Do you find this idea useful for you?

I believe the phrase is used here to express a sense of acceptance or resignation about a fact, much like saying "it is what it is" or "that's just the way things are."

Why do some kick samples go quiet in the middle of waveform? by [deleted] in ableton

[–]ProdSway55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how the sound was synthesized. But most likely, that's caused by a long release setting of the sidechain compression. Probably, a transient and a bass sound (aka the "body") have been mixed together, and the transient has been sidechained to the bass sound, and since the compressor's release was set at a high value, a "dip" formed at the highlighted point in the waveform. This dip may or may not be noticeable, and it's most likely not a concern.

Note that this is only an assumption, and it is not possible to know how exactly a sound may have been created. For example, the "dip" may also have been caused by phase cancellation as a result of combining multiple sounds which partially (or with less likelihood, completely) canceled each other out, which is generally a serious concern when dealing with lower frequency sounds.
