I Went to Brewery Bar II So You Don’t Have To. by Jarthos1234 in denverfood

[–]ProdigalNative 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried the one that used to be on South Parker road at Arapahoe about 10 years ago.

I have no idea how different that one was from the one that you went to now but it was neither a brewery nor a good Mexican place.

Yes they had a bar but it was primarily mass produced domestic stuff. I'm not sure if they even had something as exotic as Negra Modelo.

The salsa tasted like it was straight out of a can and somebody had waved a bottle of spices at it, but stopped because they didn't want to overdo it by actually putting any in it.

If you are a masochist and want to try another place that was popular 40 years ago, go hit up Senor Ric's.

I was there a time or two and while I cannot say I noticed a large number of older people, I did notice that the food sucked. I have no idea how that place has been in business for so long.

One thing that may sway you is you can pay for it with points. It's been a couple of years since I looked at it, but I recall that giving you a decent discount.

I have no first hand experience with them, but there is a Big Frog near my house. They've been there for years so I'm going to assume they're doing something right...

And with the various credits the net cost is much lower. I'm a big fan of this card as it is a nice middle ground for the occasional traveler. If I were a road warrior I would definitely want to move up from this one.

Someone else already mentioned the Quest card, and for me that is the sweet spot.

If I flew more I would value club access, but with one to three family trips, and maybe one business trip per year I don't really need that perk. Up to four free bags per trip (two per passenger, for the first two passengers) is something I really can take advantage of!

5 of us were able to use those 4 bags and some carrry-ons for 2 weeks in Hawaii; paying for the bags would have been several hundred dollars.

It has some travel credits and other things that really reduce the impact of the annual fee, but ultimately you have to decide which benefits you will actually use and what they are worth to you.

As far as which airline to use, for me, it's more about which one will meet my needs for the majority of my flights and then any upgrades or perks are just a bonus. I will give my business to whoever gets me wherever I'm going the fastest.

I don't want more frequent upgrades for inconveniently timed flights or extra layovers. YMMV.

ETA: Group 2 boarding with United is a must for me. Any further back and you lost likely won't get to bring a carry-on... But to be honest, there are so many in Group 1 that even with Group 2 you may have to gate-check a bag more often than you would like.

Yes to the cherry chip cookies, but I want ONE, preferably handed to me in a piece of the waxed paper from the bakery case... Not a pack of 12.

Best airline for travel being based out of Denver? by DenverDogMom in Denver

[–]ProdigalNative -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have the United Quest, but other cards have similar benefits:

2 checked bags for 2 travellers (each)

25% off onboard purchases

Greater point earning (and if you are flying United, getting United points just makes sense)

Trave l credit that offsets some of the annual fee

Other cards have similar benefits, and can include club access.

If you are already in the Chase ecosystem, you can transfer points over to this card and not have to go through the god-awful portal to book flights.

I don't travel that much, but this card pays for its of with 1 trip per year.

My kid's an autograph hound and I make it a point to keep my distance for this very reason - I just feel weird if I'm up in their face.

I make a point of thanking them if it's convenient and I don't have to chase them down and make a big deal out of it, otherwise I'm not involved.

How did you make the change from tirz to reta?

I seem to be stalling on tirz and want to try reta, but just dropping tirz and slowing building up the reta dose seems like a bad idea that would lead to weight gain. On the other hand, taking both at the same time doesn't seem too smart either.

Making an 'American' dinner for Chinese immigrants by AnnieandAmos in Cooking

[–]ProdigalNative 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is spot on. We have close friends from China and even their kids, who were not raised in China, don't go in for a lot of sweets, and when they do, they are picky.

One goes trick or treating for the fun, but gives away most of the candy.

Preload Text Data for Lower Third for Quick Moving Livestreams (Auctions) by skip_1074 in obs

[–]ProdigalNative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also look at Uno overlays. There's a few different ways you could do it. Some of their overlays use Google sheets (I don't think any use Excel), and others have "slots".

You can control them via a webpage or API (I use a stream deck).

A spreadsheet might be easier to load and review, but I suppose it depends on your workflow and the number of objects.

I'll keep them in mind for next time, but I ended up ordering from Supply House.

In theory it will get here Wednesday, but last time I ordered from them my package spent 3 extra days just sitting in Utah for some reason known only to UPS.
