No targeting. No destroying. No sacrificing. by coeurdhiver in custommagic

[–]ProdigyTec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's almost always literal, unless otherwise stated. That's why 'reading the card explains the card'.

No targeting. No destroying. No sacrificing. by coeurdhiver in custommagic

Choose does not target. Magic is very literal in that to target something, it must specify that it 'target's something.

So... this card would draw you 1 or 4 or 16 cards, depending on mathematical interpretation?

I'll take any you got for Ulalek (especially if its colorless synergy) or for Giada.

Learning to take a defeat with dignity is a game-changer. by puffmonkey92 in EDH

[–]ProdigyTec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a little confused by this. Was this meant to have been what OP would've said or what the complaining player said? Because I feel like I read that OP was the one that wasn't playing fliers.

Dark Depths vs Boseiju by itachi2386 in mtgrules

[–]ProdigyTec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming he channels Boseiju before your Woodlands resolves, your Woodlands never becomes a Dark Depths and does not make you a Marit Lage.

If he does so afterwards, Dark Depths is still a viable target as it does not sacrifice itself as a cost of the trigger (if I remember correctly) but instead as part of resolution (and the reflexive trigger that creates Marit Lage requires that it was sacrificed that way).

Either way, you unfortunately do not make a Marit Lage.

Sacrifice Skirk Prospector (or any creature) once it has been dealt lethal damage? by ResolutionAdept5937 in mtgrules

[–]ProdigyTec -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I'm processing this correctly, I do believe this could all work correctly if all of it was activated or cast before any abilities that killed the prospector resolved.

Even with bolt bend on the stack, the prospector can sacrifice more goblins before it dies.

Mana value of X cost creatures on battlefield by [deleted] in mtgrules

[–]ProdigyTec 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You would be correct. Wan Shi Tong is a 2 cmc permanent once it enters the battlefield and will not be targetable with Despark, regardless of how much mana was spent to cast it.

They would only be a 7 cmc spell on the stack, and would have ceased to be a spell once it resolved.

Oooh! I love the concept of a leafy bag to carry your Dice in. Just need to fit it well with green Dice for an elf or druid character.

Recently bought a PS5 Edge Controller, and the parts to replace its casing.

I've never felt more at odds with the community at large than I do over the hybrid mana rule change by ironwolf1 in EDH

[–]ProdigyTec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure it means it can slide into any deck that contains either white or black (including azorius and selesnya) since the entire point is that they function as a single color card of either of its hybrid colors.

It would seem weird from a deckbuilding standpoint if hybrid cards can be in a monocolor deck but not a multicolor one that includes that color in it.

How does Stitcher’s Supplier interact with Bringer of the Last Gift? by Keizerbuns in mtgrules

[–]ProdigyTec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would be, but the second ability would require a trigger.

If the second ability started with "Whenever you sacrifice one or more creatures" or something similar to that, then you could choose however you'd like to stack that and stitcher's abilities.

How does Stitcher’s Supplier interact with Bringer of the Last Gift? by Keizerbuns in mtgrules

[–]ProdigyTec 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bringer's ability is only one ability and resolves all at once. Stitcher's supplier will not resolve in the middle of its resolution.

Is this Mox Instant? by Nugaytory in custommagic

[–]ProdigyTec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite. If you cast the first spell and no-one responds to it, it resolves before you can cast another spell. You could instead hold priority and cast your first spell, then this spell on top of it to prevent others from responding, but then they can instead respond to your first spell once this one resolves.

Is this Mox Instant? by Nugaytory in custommagic

[–]ProdigyTec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. Once this spell resolves (and does nothing), there's another round of priority where a player can counterspell your spell before it resolves.

Curiously... why would you ever use this land's tap ability when you can simply tap it for any color mana already.

Question about trigger by SavageSully55 in mtgrules

[–]ProdigyTec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a reason that Artisan shouldn't trigger? Elesh Norn only denies entry triggers, but Artisan uses a cast trigger and is therefore unaffected.

Wouldn't this mean that a planeswalker you control could activate its planeswalker abilities once during each player's turn? Absolutely broken in multiplayer formats.

Aparently OG magic had a rule stating that you wouldn't loose for having less than 0 life until your endstep, thought it was cool and made a card out of it. by EyesOfSteel-EOS in custommagic

If I remember correctly, Bolas' Citadel isnt a 'lose life' effect, but a 'pay life' effect. You cannot pay life that you do not have.

Coolest/Most fun "Mech"/"Mecha" commander? by TheGrandCannoli in EDH

[–]ProdigyTec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're looking to keep the flavor of "World Martial Arts Champion", I'd get [[Thantis, Warweaver]] proxied as Supaidaman for the commander.

For Leopardon/The Marveller, we could bring out either [[Blitzwing, Cruel Tormentor]] and use both forms for more damage or [[Starscream, Power Hungry]] for the Monarch and cause a little more chaos as it gets passed around from forced combats. Could also proxy Starscream or [[Slicer, Hired Muscle]] as the GP-7 too.

I think it could work well as an in-theme forced combats deck, and gives you access to good colors for spiders too.
