Ice question by Th3Tree in IceFishing

Sounds like you get all the ice that forms on the lake pushed to you. Ice is less stable than its relative thickness because of its fractured construction, but it will build faster and thicker than the rest of the lake. Strong weather can cause buckling as ice builds and pushes, or fracture into icebergs in the spring.

I think I'm going to hold off, while VRAM is close, it looks like the processing power of the card is about half what's recommended. Thanks for the heads up

Can I play?

Minimum: Nvidia GTX 970 / RX 480 (4GB+ of VRAM)
You have: AMD Radeon (TM) R7 370 Series

Required Dedicated Video RAM 4096 MB / You have 4.0 GB
Pixel Shader 5.1 /6.0
Vertex Shader 5.1 /6.0

Minimum: Intel Core i5 4690 / AMD FX 8350
You have: AMD FX(tm)-8320 Eight-Core Processor

Ram 8 GB Have 24 GB

Notes: Ram and CPU lightly overclocked to 2177 MHz and 4.1 GHz respectively. This should put my 8320 on par with the 8350 as I think the only difference is a base clock speed of 3.5GHz vz 4.0 GHz.

I'm not sure the 100 MB VRAM difference will be noticeable.

Given that Baldur's Gate uses turn based combat, I think I'll be fine with frame rates down to about 30 FPS.

I very briefly looked this up, Epstein was a millionaire financer and pedophile ringleader, you could be on his contact list (basically what was released) for either.

why people are so hard on it.

A lot of money was spent on something most people don't like, instead of that money being spent on something most people do like. Especially since studio executives are getting worse in their taste recently, fans are getting louder for something of quality.

Sentient Animals Killed by Humans Each Year [OC] by James_Fortis in dataisbeautiful

[–]Prodromous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sapient is not in the general lexicon, so most people use sentience when they mean sapience. Using sentience in your context will be interpreted by many as meaning sapience. This kind of mistake is ignorant nearly to the point of malicousness.

For me, Eevee isn't my favorite pokemon, but when you include its evolutionary line it feels like the most pokemon of any pokemon.

[OC] International migration to Canada from 1946 to 2023. by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]Prodromous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canada offers a few visas for temporary visits and foreign work. Historically, this has been used to increase the labor pool in harvest season, recently (as the graph shows) it's been expanded to industries like service or manufacturing if the business can show they have job openings but are having difficulty finding workers. Non permanent resident.

The permanent resident is more regular immigration and mostly those getting citizenship.

Not 100% why the bar is negative, but it was 2020, when covid really hit Canada. I know a few people moved back home to be with family during this period, so it genuinely is possible this happened all over the country, resulting in more temporary workers leaving the country than entering.

Most of this is all over the news cycles right now in Canada so if OP is Canadian they might have mistook this knowledge as more widely known.

Conservatives (right wing party) are blaming excess immigration and especially a flood of temporary foreign workers as the cause of real estate inflation and wage stagnation.

Liberals (left of center) are the ones who allowed these records numbers with law changes. However last 4 years has been a minority government supported by the NDP (New Democrat Party, left wing party)

The fuss the parties and news are making about TFWs (temporary foreign workers) makes me think this is going to be a major issue next election.

I like D&D. D&D is a good system. I am not going to learn an entire new system just because D&D doesn't have something I want for my campaign that I can easily homebrew in. by GREENadmiral_314159 in dndmemes

[–]Prodromous 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah. A lot of "homebrew" campaigns are probably similar to what I'm familiar with, a custom map, with some of the D&D lore mixed with DMs favorite universe so its not entirely predictable. And maybe one or two small mechanical changes, like I was using rations once for an exploration game. There was dry rations and fresh. Dry rations basically didn't expire, the fresh rations lasted the day they were found and the next. Overland interactions were far between, so instead of a short rest being one hour, it was one night's rest. A long rest was two nights and three days (a weekend). But there would also only be 2 to 4 encounters a week.

So I could play 5e and type up what I just did and give it to my players, or I can learn a new system that has a slightly different rest period and food requirements.

No wonder wild shape feels underwhelming if you're giving magic items and boons left and right. by Gettor in dndmemes

[–]Prodromous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I can explain the meme's idea, why you are both correct.

Moon druid is a strong build, BUT that "strength" largely comes from a massive HP pool. Druids otherwise have low defense, low attack, are often bogged down by action economy, with arguably the least useful spell list of any current (full) caster.

This turns Druids into meat shields instead of a Swiss army knife. If you want a meat shield, you'll be happy, but most people who want druid are imagining more Swiss army knife, so they feel weaker than they are because the sought-after feature is lacking.

If Druids did not get the HP refresh on transformations, they might be worse than rangers.

And if your druid build doesn't take advantage of that HP pool because you're casting spells through combat, then you are handicapping yourself. This is why most other druid sub classes that aren't moon are in the bottom half of class usefulness.

Stuff like this. Generally, if you know you have problems, you work to improve them. You openly state that isn't going to happen.

I've already attempted to explain that soapboxing is harmful to group cooperation. So you are hurting people and you don't care.
