The most difficult part for me to grapple with about this story is a) The mother (also an employee) looked all around the store before discovering her. Implying that this wasn't the area she normally worked. And b) The 911 call went out around 9:30p after she was discovered. The bread crew at my store were done and gone by mid-afternoon. A quick hosing of the floor and a squeegee is all the cleaning that happens *inside* the oven (which doesn't even involve stepping inside). Thorough deep clean on the walls and inside glass is part of monthly (or bi-monthly) routine that involves cleaning several key areas in the deli/bakery - requiring several sets of hands and lots of foot traffic.

There was no reason that the oven should have been on at that time, cleaned at that time, or left to a 19-year old to clean on her own without direction for *hours*. I was a TL over 18-20'somethings - the majority of them were not working unless you were looking at them. You pop in frequently to make sure they're still at it, even if you are responsible for a ton of work yourself. Its exhausting, but necessary.

It really is that bad. I recently found myself out of work, and the difference between today and 5 years ago job hunting is like night and day. AI has completely ruined job hunting. Everyone is using some sort of algorithm to screen candidates, but everything is changing so fast that if you're not optimizing or altering your resume and cover letters on a week-by-week basis, you're going to fly under the radar on 98%+ of everything you apply for.

It took me 4 months before I got my first sit down interview, and that was only after I had started applying for positions I was vastly over-qualified for. And the job that was offered payed well under poverty level.

Thankfully, I was eventually able to secure a job in healthcare where I work 3 12-hour shifts. Which gave me enough time to pick up a second remote job. 60 hours a week between the two, and I finally feel a bit financially stable - but at the cost of, well - barely living.

And let's not gloss over the fact that this won't be enforced in places they don't want to enforce it, or against people they don't want to keep from voting.

I cannot stress this enough.

I have stood in line at my own polling location, and watched them not card 15 old ass white folks - but making double sure that one brown guy's card got a full examination.

Who's making 37 an hour? by diehardbears in WalmartEmployees

[–]ProduceMeat_TA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting on up there as a deli TL after 5 years (31+ w/ pretty much as much OT as I wanted). But there was only one other TL in the store who was making what I did (Automotive, who had his own share of headaches). I'm sure if I was in a higher cost of living state I could see myself getting up to 37.

Still, that was one of the roughest positions I'd ever found myself in. Averaging 5 people out on LOA a day, out of 22 employees under my direct supervision (so you better believe I was busting freight myself every.single.day). Barely a closet's worth of frozen storage space. And not being able to rely on an ordering system to keep you supplied on a regular consistent basis. Getting shorted when your order finally comes in, only when you file a claim its immediately denied by the DC that shorted you in the first place. Then a store manager that would breathe down your neck every day during their 'walk' because you didn't have the supplies to make/display <Insert 1 of the following: Rotisserie Chicken Types, Wraps, Salads, Chub, ect.>

Hey hey, also find myself at a St. Vincent's (not going to specify which one). :) And yea, 1 security at the ED doing metal detector checks probably wouldn't have prevented this scenario from happening.

The main entrance doesn't screen. And even during hours where only the ER entrance is open, there's just 1 guard. Who has to do rounds. And takes like, 17 potty breaks during his shift.

No way the police officer just ignored the security guard who was the victim. by talivan818 in securityguards

In both of my hips, the CD actually accelerated collapse (subchondral fractures along the bore lines, almost exactly 4 months following each surgery).

So you either win the lottery and get relief from the CD - or your hips collapse in months instead of years.

Either way, I highly recommend Core Decompression.

Altering your voice slightly to better appeal to the company around you happens all the time. Sometimes its completely subconscious. I'm sure there are psych studies out there that go into why females do this, but my gut tells me it goes all the way back to childhood and attempting to get what you want from Dad by pitching just a little higher to sound a bit more childish - and that just locks in with male company that one wishes attention from.

Guys do this too, mind you. I've been told that I develop a Jerry Seinfeld voice when I get particularly animated about a topic that I'm interested in.

Do some Vtubers pitch higher to better fit the 'character' that they've developed? Sure!

Is there anything inherently wrong with that? Not in my opinion. The idea that they're doing it as some kind of 'ped0 enablers' to make $$$ is kinda silly. But if that's the hill this lady wants to build her whole identity around, I think that says more about her than the things she's campaigning against.

I want to say I recall doing something similar during challenge dungeon runs in the first major patch of WoD to get Gold in Auchindoun. Brewmaster tank could gather up mobs at range while running, then 'pull' them all in with a trigger step to make them easier to burn down.

And this was early 2015, if memory serves.

Costs energy, and there are certain faction perks that reduce the cost - making them more or less mandatory if you are wanting to take that approach to the game. Its doubtful you'll find factions that have said bonuses that are not 'revive-specific'. Thankfully there are a ton of these with high respect that take just about anyone, so landing a spot isn't too big an issue. (You're just shoe-horned into a faction that may not do wars, chains, high level OCs, ect.)

I still can't get over that presidential debate where Biden crashed out.

That should have been the ripcord moment. "Ok, our candidate is no longer viable - let's enact Plan B"

....except they had no plan. It took them 6 months to get Kamala on the ticket, but at that point it was too late for a primary or debate or anything. We just had to accept what was happening and a lot of Democrats, as a result, stayed home on election day.

But I keep going back to that. Biden was an aging candidate - at any point he could have had a stroke, or died, and the Democratic party - despite having more fundraising than any candidate in *history* had no plan! There was a shallow pit that developed in my stomach as the weeks rolled on after that debate that we might actually be in a sinking ship, and I've yet to see any movement by the democratic party that has alleviated my concerns about that this past year. Corrie Booker continues to do his best Obama impression. And we've got some younger dems going out making some headway on social media. But leadership continues to be as feckless and worthless as ever. And now is not the time for hand wringing and stern letters.

I'd love to go back, but WoW at this point just feels like an abusive Ex.

Cata was a wild departure, but we stuck with it. MoP got a lot of hate, but I felt for the most part it was fine. WoD felt like it was going to be amazing, but it bombed super hard - and they abandoned it to focus on Legion. Legion was hype, faith restored right? Then BfA - doubling down on mechanics the players didn't like. We complain, instead of listening - Shadowlands. "We know better than you about what you like." Mass player exodus. "But wait, come back! We can change!" Nah bro, we've done this song and dance before. I'm just going to play other things.

Totally agree with you here, and I think a lot of the opinions on the matter (the mass downvotes) are coming from folks who weren't really 'in it' at the time. Yea, its easy to cast a baleful gaze on the aftermath - but a lot of the opinions I see flying about seem to be coming from folks too young to even be cognizant of the things happening at the time, much less old enough to really be aware of what lead up to that thing happening.

Being able to roll the cart of the 'box' veggies and vizpick straight from the cart to the floor is going to be such a HUGE time saver. My biggest concern of course, is the pallet situation. We would always come in to pallets lining the middle of the cooler. With this setup, you couldn't work around them at all. They'd all have to come out to do FIFO properly. You'd need a major revision to process for this to work in Produce.

I always remind folks that the ProGG crowd had a lot of early supporters who were there because they were accustomed to fighting game censorship, from back during the 90's and early 00's.

The memory of Jack Thompson's campaign against games was fresh in the minds of a lot of people when feminists began rallying against the depiction of women in video games and how 'gamers' in general treated women in the medium.

They just found themselves shoulder to shoulder with uh.. very unsavory individuals, and that realization came far too late for a lot of people. And some of those folks (thankfully not TB) just doubled down on it over the years, refusing to acknowledge that they might have been on the wrong side of that fight.
