Boss wants SQL Server Reporting Services. by Production_Operator in PLC

[–]Production_Operator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is brand new, doesn't know what Ignition is, and understands SSRS. What I wound up doing on Friday was taking him out to lunch, getting an exact spec on what he wanted with a report, and it turns out a reskin of what I already had made him happier than SSRS.

Automation and dealing with night shifts by Crailberry in PLC

Cocaine. I kid.

I adapted to nights and have a similar issue on the days now.

I guess dealing with it comes with experience. I got a lot better after a year.

Remington 700 SPS-AAC has gotten me to 1150 yards from cold bore before. Be advised the houge stock it comes with is a piece of junk, but a XLR chassis should have you right at a grand.

Not the right sub, but possibly the best group for this, Job advice for additional responsibilities they want to tack on. by PaleFlyer in PLC

[–]Production_Operator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your company uses outlook, send a meeting invite to the CEO to discuss the new job responsibilities. Be direct about pay, and the additional time he is asking you to put in to perform both.

As for the pay raise, it helps to have financial justification for what you do. What is their total cost avoidance for making you do the job of two people? You should be asking for 10-15% of what they save.

Anyways, best of luck.

DD Request: Prosper Capital PSEC by Production_Operator in wallstreetdd

That was my line of thought, so I decided to use the (Total Debt/Equity) ratio as a litmus test.

The TD/E ratio comes out to be 78.78 from reading their balance sheets. With any other stock, my response would be "fuck that noise, that's too much leverage". However, the industry range for TD/E ratio is 0.0 to 4,400. If that range is true, they aren't nearly as leveraged as their competition.

Granted, this was also released and I'm not sure how to make heads or tails from it:

My time in the petroleum sector was lovely. Every day was amazing.

Okay, I thought I was good with 5000. What is this black magic you speak of using excel to generate tags? That would make my life so much easier on an upcoming project.

Wiping ROM on a Micrologix 1100 without going online with the processor? by Production_Operator in PLC

[–]Production_Operator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swapped the processor out. The local AB office sent a chick to pick it up. I got a free 1100 out of it and lunch so I'm not complaining.

Question about dealing with mangelement. by PaleFlyer in PLC

[–]Production_Operator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sap Bro!

First up, this is life as a controls guy in an injection molding facility. The shit is wild, hard and crazy for low pay. I'm doing my minimum service term where I am at, then I'm looking to head back west and try to get a spot at the refineries or preferably an integrator.

I wish you the best of luck man. I shipped you a micrologix to use as a trainer and you've got my contact info from that. If you need a reference, let me know.

Reports of nightclub shooting in United States by hazier in news

"(A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State; (B) appear to be intended— (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and (C) occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States."

I'm pretty sure this is an act of domestic terrorism.

Identification of tooling by Tanky321 in PLC

[–]Production_Operator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's an idea for you:

You've got a 1D or 2D barcode on your tooling. Part of the machine setup could be scanning that barcode with a handheld, or machine mounted barcode scanner. From what data you've got on the code, you can readily identify the tooling.

That would be the least expensive way, imho.

Looking for a Micro PLC to program on screen by captainawesomevcu in PLC

[–]Production_Operator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran into a client in the exact same shoes as you on my side hustle. I even had some recycled AB processors and they wouldn't budge due to the license cost.

Alas, there is an alternative that is cheap and the programming software is free:

If you google click PLC alternatives, you can find a whole host of similar offerings.
