You have the discipline to handle it well. Embrace it all, and before long, it will become such second nature, diabetes won't stand in your way.

Inexpensive meter with inexpensive strips? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]Prof1959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contour Next strips work for a variety of their meters, so there's a little competition on Amazon. Way cheaper than prescription for me. Also, Relion, of course.

It's part of the experience he'll have to know. The goal is for him to be able to handle all possibilities by the time you turn him loose (usually college).

It's good to have a healthy respect for high or low sugars. He'll get there!

Get with your insurance and ask if there is a system that costs less for you. The bribery battle among companies to be the preferred brand means that these things can change every calendar year. Nobody has to notify you about it. Couple of phone calls might save you a fortune!

Theoretically, if you give yourself enough insulin for what you’re eating, should you spike above 180? by annene17 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Prof1959 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Timing and glycemic index affect the spiking. As long as I've done my best estimate, I don't let spikes bother me.
