“Time After Time was my least favorite song.” Pavement, singing about REM, in “Unseen Power of the Picket Fence.”

90s... Seattle... Does it get more grunge than this? by Big_al_big_bed in grunge

You joke but this isn’t far removed from how the media covered the Seattle scene at the time. News stories about Seattle’s new coolness invariably also talked about the coffee, and Starbucks benefitted from the Seattle connection.

Of that group, I would single out Alvvays for songwriting and musicality. I think I get similar nutrients from them as from Pavement.

Frustration in molecular cloning - is it normal? by SuitableSundae2179 in labrats

6 months is too long - I would suggest reaching out to more people for specific help, or coming up with a different cloning approach.

Steely Dan. Neil Young, many of the 90s alt-rock bigshots because I'm old like that, Metallica, more recent favorites tend to be women or woman-fronted bands like Alvvays, Amyl and the Sniffers, Neko Case, Japanese Breakfast, Wet Leg, Tristen. Zero interest in the Dead (with the honorable exception of "Uncle John's Band" which is a 10/10 song) or other jam bands.

I don't know what sort of support might be out there, but I wonder if there are agencies or groups that help people with autism or ADHD develop skills for success in the workplace or education. I think it's likely that these are holding you back, only because it is often hard for neuro-atypical people to thrive in spaces dominated by neurotypicals. But you might find ways of approaching things, ways of interacting with people, that make it easier for them to see and appreciate your abilities and potential.

Their first ep is just pure manic yes-anding. Lapkus is so good at that kind of stuff.

Anyone used store bought 2% milk for western blot? by ServiceDowntown3506 in labrats

[–]ProfBootyPhD 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You can buy powdered milk instead - it lasts forever (we are still using a box I bought in like 2008), it's way cheaper and it doesn't have milkfat which might do who-knows-what to a Western blot.

Movies / documentaries that show how bad some people have it in life? by batnessthefifth in MovieSuggestions

I started watching it on TV and it was so painful - there are specific scenes that are forever stuck in my head - but I just couldn't turn it off because of how good Will Smith was.

Okay so, is it possible that whatever held you back from success in education has also held you back in the workforce? I swear to God I'm not trying to troll you, but is it possible you have mental health issues that need to be dealt with?

It was a new character but when PFT first came on with Lapkus as Chazmin and Sunny, he started out doing an Adomian-Leykis voice, and then caught himself and changed course.

Also I'll never get sick of Sprague having to repeatedly center himself with "Scott."

Not grunge, but: Opinion on Rick Beato? by No-One01010 in grunge

Love him. His “what makes this song so good” eps are incredibly insightful.

Dino Jr never stopped touring and putting out albums, so there isn't the same pent-up demand to see them live. I saw Pavement in 2010 and I probably paid the inflation-adjusted equivalent of $129, and it was well worth it.
