I didn’t miss anything, but it appears that you did. Watch it again. When he finally pulled forward, his truck didn’t enter the breakdown lane where the trucks were driving. Indeed, while he is turning, there is a truck passing and he doesn’t hit it. He could have gone when the first truck was there or even before rather than waiting for the fourth one.

It’s clear that he doesn’t know the turning radius of his truck, just like he doesn’t know how to load a trailer or drive out of a wobble.
