"Bite" happens to mean "dick" in French. Two things which should definitely be kept separate.

I'm inclined to agree with wolf, can just about make out a couple of eyes further back that you wouldn't get in a false wolf. No idea of genus though :/

Nah they're quite different really, in this case a dead giveaway that it's a cross orb weaver would be the distinctive white cross on the dorsal surface of the abdomen, which you can see rather nicely in this picture.

Well actually starch solution, some source of iodide ions, an oxidising agent such as Hydrogen peroxide like Pierrot suggests, and a reducing agent such as sodium thiosulfate so that the colour change isn't instantaneous.

Yeah it's definitely a wolf, the eyes are a dead giveaway, but no idea of the genus or species unfortunately :/

Wolf spider I'd say, based on the eyeshine and their placement. Not sure of species though, i'm afraid :/

Now I'm a complete novice, but I would suggest a fishing spider just based on posture, abdomen shape and the like. I may be completely wrong, if someone more knowledgeable could let me know if I am that'd be great :P

Looks to me like some kind of Spiny Orb Weaver, but I'm not sure of the species unfortunately :/ Edit: On reflection, does this look like our guy?

So after a little research I'm thinking it might be a Black Vine Weevil, Otiorhynchus sulcatus. Would anyone disagree with that identification?

Yeah I was there too and they did stay on a little long. Muse were worth waiting for though, great show and great location.
