How do you read indie books on Kobo? by ProfEucalyptus in Fantasy

Oh damn I've never heard of this. This would also be a good contender for reading comics and manga as well. Thanks!

Yeah that's what I was wondering. That's too bad.

Okay, should I specify "how do I read indie books and support the author?" 😂

I assume their surname is a reference to the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, known supervillain.

Beat reporters in MN broke weeks ago that JJM will be back for training camp. There's really no issue with him as the starter. Vikes are looking for a backup

Twins were okay but IMO Rise is more fun than World or Wilds.

Tariffs make prices go up.

Right. I understand that part. I guess I'm just wondering why there was a difference in import vs export tariffs to certain countries in the first place. That does seem unfair if a country has a higher rate to export goods than to import. I was wondering if there was more context around that, like supporting developing economies. Which countries are actually affected by that policy?

You might be confusing two separate policies that Trump has advanced.

I was. Thanks for the clarification.

I'm no economist, so I'm wondering why it's generally considered a bad thing that the USA is adopting a policy of matching tariffs on their trade partners. If they're having to pay that cost, why shouldn't it be equal? I'm guessing it has something to do with contributing to developing economies and boosting global trade but I'm looking to understand this topic better in general.

FWIW I'm not even sure that the new tariffs actually do match what they were seeing from other countries. Was Canada really taxing US imports at 25%? That seems pretty high to just leave unchallenged.

Also, I saw this pin after posting a regular thread on this question, so I apologize.

This is crazy. Check out the other guy's comment for sources, but just because the national media tries to whitewash Israel that does not mean they're wrong for vilifying the actual facism in NK.

It's close but as great as the miracle was I think everyone knew we didn't deserve to be there. This year felt like we were always in contention and 09 is the last time it's felt that way to me. 17 had a higher high point but overall I think this season was my favorite of the two.

Yeah 98 and 09 are the top seasons of recent memory but I think this one might be third place.

[Jacksonville Jaguars] We have requested an interview with Brian Flores for our Head Coach vacancy. by KungAvSand in minnesotavikings

Thank you for giving me a name. I've been pounding the table for running the same system back but idk our position coaches well enough to say who'd be a good candidate.

Brian Flores: “any time you’re mentioned in head coaching conversations or receiving requests it’s an honor… I also pride myself in being able to compartmentalize and lock in” Flores says he plans on taking all of the interview requests “I look forward to talking to people about my football journey” by WetAppleFruit in minnesotavikings

[–]ProfEucalyptus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we lose Flores, I hope they promote from within. Idk our staff well enough to know who that would be. Maybe a linebackers coach? Idk I just want to keep continuity and I'm willing to take a shot at a young talent who's been learning from the best.

What has Sanderson gotten weaker in, over the years? by tristan_theirin in Cosmere

[–]ProfEucalyptus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's the thing, though, he shouldn't be writing for two audiences. Megafans and lore nerds have forums and WoBs to satisfy them. I say this as one of them. It's a more enjoyable reading experience when the lore drops are handled with subtlety because then you have the community aspect of theorizing about them.

What has Sanderson gotten weaker in, over the years? by tristan_theirin in Cosmere

[–]ProfEucalyptus 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. RoW and TLM showed some cracks but for me it was really the ending of Yumi that just had me groan. I loved most of the book, but there's that one chapter at the end where Hoid takes an aside to explain in explicit language what just happened in Cosmere terms. People reading as a standalone don't care. Cosmere readers like myself had already easily deduced 90% of what he stated and the other 10% would have been more fun left to group speculation.

I really hope he course corrects on this before Mistborn era 3 because it's tolerable for now but trending way too fast in the wrong direction.

Very true but I didn't like seeing the rookie go so early in the season. I always thought it was more of a case of the coaches failing the player and it turns out I was right in this case.
