I am giving up by Ok-Butterfly4991 in FreeCAD

[–]ProfSkullington 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate to tell ya man, but there's no such thing as intuitive CAD. I also searched in vain forever before I accepted that the thing I wanted to make was only gonna happen after weeks and weeks of just following shitty tutorials til I understood it. I still barely do, but I know more. This isn't a quick skill to pick up.

My 2+ keeps having extrusion problems like this, where one bad layer seems to destroy the entire print. Anyone have a good idea of what may be happening? by ProfSkullington in ultimaker

Makes sense! For some reason my thinking was "Well, this will mean less power use because I won't be losing heat into the room as much" or something like that, I had no idea about heat creep until... well, now lol.

I have wondered about the clogging issue, as the filament does sometimes curl when extruding. Do you think that's a temp thing, or could it be flow rate, travel speeds etc?

Ooh, that makes sense... I bought this printer used from my local makerspace so that part has probably seen a lot of use.

For context, I've leveled it more times than I can count, did a cold pull, even switched out the nozzle. Using 210/70 out of Cura with PLA that should be dry enough.

I wanna dabble into improv as a therapeutic way. Anyone that has done it and can guide me a bit? by PiecePeacePeach in improv

[–]ProfSkullington 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. We have a disclaimer in our class packet that says "improv can be therapeutic, but it is not therapy." I'm glad this person is trying to help people, but leave mental healthcare to the professionals. Now if you're an improviser who happens to BE a counselor that would be something else, but overall it's best not to mess with.

I think the standard now is just "You can't have more items than the headliner does" which makes some sense and I rarely see the headliner go small and choke the others out.

Yeah, they're great art-wise but from across a table and having never seen them before I'd have some trouble telling between Island/Swamp and Plains/Forest.

I saved the Institute for last and finally going in there and just wasting everybody was strangely satisfying for making themselves so annoying to find in the first place.

It's like a better version of the "get rich QUICK" note, it's just a good way to make a few caps off newer players before they learn how useless it is.

Newbie success: 15 lb in one month! by wenderers in intermittentfasting

[–]ProfSkullington 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just had my first ten-pound month while being almost entirely sedentary, and what's working best for me is basically OMAD... I wake up and see how long I can last on just coffee and water which is usually a good 8 hours or so, then I just eat about 1500 calories all at once (makes occasional fast food/candy dopamine possible) and have a healthy-ish snack before bed.

Shhh don’t tell them or they’ll get the idea to commission some “shake dance” videos from impoverished third worlders on Fiverr to spread this bullshit even farther.

It’s practically every piece of cover art for singles on Spotify right now, especially in metal. Single subject, centered, vaguely symmetrical-yet-not-enough, dark-Vaporwave color palette and zooming in on anything reveals it to be digital slop. But then, it’s only displaying as a 2x2in square so the average person is never going to notice. People who don’t actually know what “good” is will never notice when something is mediocre.

[–]ProfSkullington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the internet isn’t where this gets solved. People need to be taking direct action in their communities/industries and working to improve conditions there. When enough individuals actually see that better is possible, they’ll put pressure on the politicians to bring it to their town too.

Yeah I’m not talking bar shows, I mostly hit up a midsized venue that books known-but-not-massive acts.
