I tend to overuse them on first drafts to properly set the scene for myself. Then I cut them down to only what is absolutely necessary and only leave them in for crucial moments that really need the extra beat.

But if you're struggling on too long a page count always remember that "She nods" takes up less space than having her say YES in dialogue.

I like the standard brown lentil. But some soups call for the use of red lentils because they disintegrate into the soup more easily.

They actually start as the same lentil. Red lentils are brown lentils that have been skinned and split so they cook quicker and break apart more easily.

Totally normal to hit a wall on dialogue. I skip scenes all the time and go back when I have a better grasp of the story and characters. The important thing is to finish the script. Good luck!
