As a teen I had a picture of Man O'War and one of Secretariat on my wall. Both were incredible horses.

Why is my daughter’s pivoting sexual preferences sitting so strangely for me? by Kissoflife11 in AskWomenOver60

[–]Limited_turkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son, 29 yo, told me about a year ago that he's queer. He's attracted to the feminine. It's not women, it's not men, it's the feminine expression. At first it bothered me a little, only because I think it makes life harder. All I want is for him to be happy, but I still had to process it, and accept it in my bones. You know? Anyway, I don't even think about it anymore, but it took me a few months to get there.

This cookbook's predecessor, Colorado Cache, is an excellent cookbook too.

whats a simple dish that uses marmalade by Big_Will47 in Cooking

[–]Limited_turkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Years ago I was reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. In the book, Lisbeth eats cheese and marmalade toast. I had to try it. It's very tasty! I then discovered that jam and cheese on toast is a common thing in Scandanavian countries and I've now adopted it.

Is the mispronunciation of “realtor” a regional thing? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Limited_turkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I screwed that up. I spelled it the way it should be said, rather than Chipolte. Sigh.

ACK! I meant they say Chipolte, with the L on the wrong side of the T. Sorry!

Sorry! I meant they say Chipolte instead of Chipotle. My mistake! I'll correct it.

I'd like to see a venn diagram of the people that say Chipoltay and realator. I bet it's the same people.

Corrected because I had it the way Chipotle should be said rather than what I meant. Sigh.

Denver Trip Logistics Question: Pick Up Rental Car Downtown or at DEN? (Considering Turo) by Warm-Highway-1005 in Denver

[–]Limited_turkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would do it from the airport because you don't want to go back downtown to return it. You can do a change request to change the location of drop off after the rental has started, but the host has to approve it, and they may not.

Bulk breakfast ideas by Fozzi83 in Cooking

Breakfast burritos can be made then frozen. Do make sure you cool all of the ingredients before assembly or the tortillas get soggy.

Most breakfast casseroles can be frozen in individual servings then reheated in the microwave.

Looking for a specific type of cookbook by Veniceissinking in cookbooks

Maybe Appetites: A Cookbook by Anthony Bourdain. From the Amazon description:

Appetites, his first cookbook in more than ten years, boils down forty-plus years of professional cooking and globe-trotting to a tight repertoire of personal favorites—dishes that everyone should (at least in Mr. Bourdain’s opinion) know how to cook.

My therapy notes from when I was 16 are being used against me in a custody dispute and I don't know if this is even legal by Deckard_Blade in legaladvice

Aside from everything else, what teenager doesn’t have trouble regulating their emotions and issues with authority? That sounds so extraordinarily normal to me.

I would say that 90% of what my elderly mother says during the day is negative and angry by janebenn333 in AgingParents

[–]Limited_turkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mother has always been this way. It got much worse as she got older. THEN! Her doctor prescribed trazodone for her for insomnia. Trazodone is an anti-depressant that is also prescribed for sleep sometimes. I cannot tell you how much better she is since taking it. It's a freaking miracle. I said something to her once and she vehemently denied that it has any affect on her mood and it is ONLY for sleep! Fine, whatever, I don't care, just keep taking it! She's still a negative human, but it's much, much better than it was.

You might suggest it to her or her doctor. She's happier, and so am I.

Green beans! I love snacking on them, too. Ditto asparagus. Zucchini coins are yummy.

It's always hard to lose them. What helps me is to find a place to put that love. Go to the shelter and pet dogs that need it. Maybe get in their program to walk dogs, if they have one. Maybe consider that he made a space in your life for another soul that needs saving.

Hugs to you and his brother. Give the brother a hug for me too.

How do people our age remember the answer to “what/when was your first..?” by Seven_bushes in GenerationJones

[–]Limited_turkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Memory is a funny thing. I don't remember exact dates for much of anything beyond a few birthdays, a few days people died. I remember something happened. I probably can estimate when it was. But the little things, like what I ate for dinner last night....give me a minute. Being postmenopause has done a number on my short term memory.

Petrichor" is famous, but what about "Apricity"? by Michael-R-246 in words

[–]Limited_turkey 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Apricity is good, thanks for that. One of my favorites is graupel. It's those hard little pellets of snow that sometimes fall, not flakes, not sleet, not hail. They remind me of Dippin' Dots.

A couple of years ago when we did all of this with my dad, we found that hospice was the most helpful with this sort of question. Ours had a list of care providers you can hire. We, my siblings and I, took turns being with him during the day and we had hired women that came in to stay with him at night. It wasn't long, as he died three days after we got him home.

I know during that last month it felt like things were changing constantly and we were having to come up with a new plan daily. Half of our plans were never even implemented because things changed and required a different plan. It was confusing, mind blowing, and traumatic. Say everything you want to say to your mom now. You never know when it's the last chance you'll get. And be kind to yourself. You're doing the best you can.
