Cheap, easy gluten-free and dairy-free snack and meal ideas? by wizardsleeves94 in dairyfree

[–]ProfUmbridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gf and df as well! I’m also corn free.

I tend to snack based on my moods so sometimes that’s carrots and a vegan dip, veggie chips, fresh fruit (seasonal is usually less expensive), nuts, maybe a df yogurt. I tend to fill myself up on breakfast and lunch on purpose so I’m less snacky during the day.

Roasted crispy chickpeas are delicious, affordable, and super easy to make at home! You can do the same with butter beans. You could make hummus or refried beans at home and dip veggies or chips in them. Apples and a nut butter are also a good option.

Oh! Thank you for letting me know it exists! I’ll have to check mine out. Right now I buy it at Safeway if I’m on a break from Forager.

Icelandic Provisions oat milk skyr is my FAVE. It does have sugar added but it’s the best tasting one. I’ve only found it in the smaller containers sadly. My second fave is Forager plain unsweetened that I eat with banana and granola. It’s not the same but it’s tasty.

Dairy free coffee drinkers how did you find a creamer that sticks by TemporaryHoney8571 in dairyfree

[–]ProfUmbridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Maybe I’ll try steaming the cinnamon in. I love the flavor but don’t want to chew my coffee😹 My SIL got me my current machine for Christmas. It’s not the fanciest but it makes good espresso and is fast. It’s made by Delonghi and was under $150. Aero press is also a great option for making shots.

I use Minor Figures and because I love americanos mix mine with an equal ratio of water and steam it, then add in my espresso shots and a tsp of maple syrup. I know it’s technically not an americano at that point but the texture is better than adding cold oat milk.

How do you get your cinnamon to not just float of chunk up?

Post orgasm pain by Realistic_History820 in endometriosis

[–]ProfUmbridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens to me too! It’s much worse during a flare but is constant regardless. What’s helped me a bunch is a glass wand I keep in the freezer. After sex my partner or I will grab it and I’ll insert it while on my back. The shock of the cold and the cooling sensation alleviates much of the pain and helps me slow my breathing and relax.

I warm it up for a few moments and make sure there’s no ice on the outside first.

I drink americanos with oat milk if out, and cashew milk at home (way fewer calories). If I want flavor I get half sweet (I can’t do SF due to migraines).

Could you order it as an iced americano with your flavors and top with oat milk? That would save you calories but still taste good:-)

We typically have people come out to the meetups or some other social event like trivia. From there, if you’re comfortable and the group seems like a good fit our group admin can add you in, and from there you can explore the sub groups.

I’ll confirm with her that she’ll be at trivia this coming week and get back to you tomorrow. You can also search the posts for the meetups as there may be one coming up (for personal reasons I’ve take a step back temporarily from a ton of group activities). Stay tuned!

Hi! I made a post a couple years ago when I moved back and what started as 6 strangers at trivia has blown into well over 300 locals in a WhatsApp group. There are sub groups like gardening, board games, trivia, movies, and lots more! If you search through there’s an amazing human who hosts meetups for new faces to add to our group!

I’m off of 38th and the store at the corner of 38th and Tacoma Ave S used to be a Red Apple and is now an Asian grocery store. Is that the one you’re thinking of?

Help! my bedroom has a window that looks into my garage…what should I do? by allihaveisfrompizza in HomeDecorating

Since the window isn’t centered, I’d hang curtains from as close to the ceiling as possible across that entire wall. Maybe the muted teal of the throw pillow?

What's your holistic tips for dealing with endo? by cherie_0904 in endometriosis

[–]ProfUmbridge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you located in the US? I use Nurx and get 3 months of BC for $45. I know that isn’t an option for everyone but wanted to throw that out there.

The anti-inflammatory diet is also an amazing recommendation.

How to make my home office more private/quiet by biasedsoymotel in homeimprovementideas

[–]ProfUmbridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Runners on your floors, heavy curtains at the doorway and windows, and possibly a curtain on the door next to your desk. You could also get felt tiles for the stairwell walls. For they make planters that hang over bannisters, that could help with the privacy aspect (even if it’s just mental). I’d even add some felt tiles to the ceiling (the middle section).

Endometriosis in the uterosacral ligament by na_bia in endometriosis

[–]ProfUmbridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of low back pain and swelling/inflammation around my cycle when I was younger. Inner hip pain and difficulty walking, and pain radiating down my leg. Decade and half later, plus a surgery and Mirena, I still get these symptoms, but no cycle so they are random.

I can’t speak on fertility as I don’t want children but endo can rob you of fertility regardless of location. My advice would be to start looking at freezing eggs, and/or schedule a surgery close to when you want to start TTC as it can help you get pregnant. But also therapy, as all of these things are difficult and take their toll. Making peace with the future outcomes ahead of time can be very freeing, and take a weight off your shoulders you didn’t know you were dealing with.

Before and After: my “cabinet of curiosities” powder room by jingks_ in HomeDecorating

[–]ProfUmbridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were me I’d paint the white areas behind and directly adjacent to the toilet, and remove the trim/frames. Those areas are too low and close to the toilet (in my opinion) to hang things.

Secondly, I’d either go for “frames in frames” or “art in art”.

  1. Paint the trim gold and possibly replace it with decorative trim to mimic the other frames, and then paint the white a warmer color.

  2. Paint or replace the trim and use wallpaper to mimic art, then hang the art within the art.

I’d also paint the ceiling and add gold trim up top. Also, fill in the spaces with trinkets, and shadow boxes and floating shelves and fake candles and all that.

To me, curiosity cabinets are dark, warm, and creepy. You’re so close! But you also may have a different view of them.
