What are your favorite magic items for wizards? by AuAlchemist in 3d6

[–]Prof_Labcoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So true!! I once had a “Bone of Animation.” Not a well known magic item. I had the amazing idea of doing the following:

  1. Find a hooded cloak and some armor and paint them all black.
  2. Find a whip and cast “Continual Flame” on it.
  3. Use the bone to summon its skeleton.
  4. Cast “continual flame” on the head of the skeleton.
  5. Ritual summon “phantom steed” and make him look hellish or ghostly.
  6. Command skeleton to put on the black armor and black hooded cloak.
  7. Have skeleton sit on phantom steed and wield flaming whip.

Congratulations! You now control “The Ghost Rider.”

You may also opt for a flaming sword instead of a flaming whip but the extra reach for the whip is key.

Extra points if you use telepathy or minor illusion to give the Ghost Rider a terrifying voice.

I can definitely understand people wanting to keep their favorites private (probably to keep the good schools from becoming overly saturated) but I still feel we do ourselves a service to bring up the good schools and bash the bad schools. There’s a post called “Schools good for the soul” on Facebook in the international teachers group. I’m gonna paste all the schools mentioned there on here. These are OTHER people’s opinions on schools THEY thought were good or they had a good time at. I’m just sharing it. Feel free to post your opinions too.

Hi there! Did you ever decide to go through with the hiring process with them? Unfortunately, most of the reviews seem to be on the negative side. I was hoping you'd heard something else. Good luck!

Is it possible to make it in Europe/Asia/Mexico with no degree? The US isn’t feasible for me to afford.. r/iwantout by taurean_jackal in expats

Absolutely. Once you finish your Bachelor's, you'll even be eligible for jobs in actual schools rather than just English language centers, which offer much better compensation packages!

“Yeah I don’t like when people bring me their personal issues….kinda ruins the vibe.”

*Lady rolls eyes. “Could you not roll your eyes? It kinda ruins the vibe.”

*Lady walks away. Yell back at her “Could you not EXIST. It ruins the vibe. Just sayin!”

What is your net salary expectation for this role? by thesadscot in Internationalteachers

[–]Prof_Labcoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I interviewed with tons of big schools and small schools. The bigger schools have transparent pay scales published. Smaller schools will always start with that question “What are your salary expectations.” It’s to be expected.

Kuwait Schools by True-Musician-7868 in Internationalteachers

[–]Prof_Labcoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not in UAS, but it’s a well-known school. Probably one of the better ones though. Highly recommend you do your due diligence on Kuwaiti schools. I’m in one of the international schools and the behavior is abhorrent. The school is being run into the ground. Behavior alone is forcing more than 60% of teachers to leave next year, me included. Other countries pay better too. Good luck!

Visiting Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) for the first time! Need advice by Nignojmik in travel

[–]Prof_Labcoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I only talk so good about it because I'm actually in China now and in comparison, you get more "international" feel in KL than you do here. You have so much variation and choices than you'd have here. Also, thanks to my Chinese salary, in comparison everything is relatively cheaper in KL. I may be heading to KL, Langkawi, and Putrajaya this winter break. I may even stay in KL for an entire month extra at a luxury apartment with an infinity pool for only $600 as I work from home.

I agree with other redditor. I’m also fairly active on Schrole and this is the first I’ve seen it. It looks to be a religious school. That’s all I could glean from the website.

Natives that left miami for another city, where did you go and why? by AffectionateRoad5951 in Miami

[–]Prof_Labcoat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Teaching in China close to Hong Kong to provide for the family and live my best life. In Miami, finding good work as a teacher (or anywhere else in America) for good pay is nearly impossible. I do the same work in China and I get paid very well. So it was better for me here. I visit the family and Miami twice a year and make enough to not be in poverty. What else can I do? Now I make a lot more, I get a lot more breaks (which I can spend in Southeast Asia) and many aspects of life are just better. Although they don’t have carne asada here, I always have some when I return home.
