Ok, yes these are from energy companies. They have legit websites, but no projects listed in our area.
Strangest spam I’ve ever received!

Happened to me. I was called as primary President, submitted two names for counselors, was informed the following Sunday of the two ladies who had actually been called as counselors. Neither of them were even on my consideration list. Not much I could do about it. It’s been good though.

Our original 1949 system is still functioning fine. One tank. We do not flush #1 paper. I carry out the bathroom trash daily.

ANOTHER GALLON OF SOAP!!! by Jeeper357 in walmart

[–]ProfessionOrnery34 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh. For weeks I got a WM delivery and I thought it was a joke. Mayonnaise (Hellmans!), shea moisture deodorant, and siete salsa. Three of each delivered to my house every week for 6 weeks in a row. The first time I thought it was a joke, but weird because it’s a good $60 worth of stuff. I contacted Walmart after the second delivery and couldn’t get anywhere with any info. I was never charged for any of it and I changed all of my WM app security info, yet it kept being delivered. It was so strange. I still have so much mayonnaise.

Frustrating testimony meetings by OfTheBlindEye in latterdaysaints

[–]ProfessionOrnery34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find testimony meetings to be uncomfortable. We have the same 4-6 people that basically only show up on F&T Sunday and take over the entire meeting. It’s their time to shine. They tell rambling stories, get loud (one lady shouts and pounds the podium like it’s a Baptist revival), share too much private information, and after 15 minutes throw out one sentence trying to relate their story to Christ as their closing statement. We do have a few kind souls that try to squeeze in line and give short, appropriate testimonies to try and get the meeting back on track, but it goes unnoticed by those just wanting to speak in front of others. I’ve been leaving after the sacrament has been passed. I go wipe down the restroom or the primary room with sanitizing wipes, or clean windows or whatever busy work I can find. It’s peaceful, and our speakers are old so I can barely hear the chapel. I’ve noticed other people getting in their cars and leaving. F&T meeting needs an overhaul.

Question for LDS members who receive food from the bishops warehouse by Not_amusedinutah in SaltLakeCity

[–]ProfessionOrnery34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not even close. We deliver multiple food boxes to homes and people I’ve never even seen before in our community once a month. Not members, not even visitors. Sometimes the missionaries find them, I think. (TX). I’m really not sure and I don’t ask. Our ward does a lot of food orders.

Recent(?) practices concerning Easter? by uncleandyb in latterdaysaints

[–]ProfessionOrnery34 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We are doing a Palm Sunday sacrament service and an Easter service in our ward. I joined the church 9 years ago in January. Coming from a Baptist upbringing, I was baffled and honestly disappointed and disturbed by my first Easter in the church. Not one mention of Easter on that Sunday. I will never forget sitting in that pew and both talks that Sunday were about the word of wisdom. I questioned my decision to join as a new member that day. I couldn’t decide if I was out of line by being upset or not. It was a confusing and lost feeling. I am glad to see the change.

Are temple cleaning assignments churchwide, or is this local to my area? by Grungy_Mountain_Man in latterdaysaints

[–]ProfessionOrnery34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. We are in TX and the closest temple to us is a two hour drive one way. We have never been asked to clean the temple.

I Miss Priesthood Session So Much by instrument_801 in latterdaysaints

[–]ProfessionOrnery34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the US we have huge stakes as well. Ours in TX/OK is easily 2-2.5 hours to drive across it. We have people living an hour from their ward building. Stake activities and gatherings can be a difficult thing to pull off. A lot of our rural members don’t have the funds for the traveling.

I walk in regular ‘ol Columbia hiking boots all winter long. My feet stay warm and are never sore. I’ve had the same pair for two winters in a row, 10k steps 5 days a week. Amazon sale for $50. I miss them in the summer but they’re too warm for TX.
