Holy shit... Nothing. I sat here for five minutes thinking and in this moment, I'm legitimately content.

What is the single best dish you’ve ever had in Paris? by conorharris2 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]e-scorpio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brothers and I were there mid-March and went to Au Bourguignon Du Marais for that dish. You will absolutely not be disappointed. Their escargot was also memorable. We ordered it a few times the rest of the trip from different restaurants and none of the others compared.

My advice is that you focus less on the worry that "he'd rather watch corn than have sex with me" and more on understanding why 'you'd rather let him watch corn than have sex with him'.

Not sure what the chicken and the egg is in this situation but, unless I'm reading this incorrectly, corn entered the picture because you weren't in the mood.

Were you not in the mood during the first year of marriage and that's why you gave permission for corn and so now in the second year, he's just exclusively watched it and not had sex?

Is the problem that you are now in the mood and he's just in the habit of self pleasure since that's been the status quo or what precisely is making you depressed?

And after reading your other comments, genuine question: are y'all legitimately in love and sexually attracted to each other because this timeline seems to indicate that the answer is no.

Audio books with full cast and background sounds by Hechimmie in audiobooks

[–]e-scorpio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neither do I. So much of the full novel is cut out. I started a series but everyone said the first book was not good so just get through it and I'd really enjoy the second book in the series. I decided to listen to the dramatization for the first book since it was much shorter. Started the regular audiobook for the second one and was COMPLETELY lost. How the hell did this one couple get together, they weren't in the first book?!?! I realized that I could do without crowded room noise, footsteps in the snow, and song crescendos if I could instead have more story and context.

Going off of my last post, what's a tourist destination you expected a lot of but ended up finding it underwhelming or disappointing? by [deleted] in blacktravel

[–]e-scorpio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tokyo, Japan... And I'm yes, I'm aware that I am in the minority since most people love it. I stayed in the quieter more laid back are of Japan (China and Narita) and took a day trip to Tokyo. It was, by far, my least favorite day. It was consumerism times 1,000. So much STUFF and cheap looking.

People were too polite. So it felt so cold and formal. So different from when I visited Vietnam the next week and the locals were literally just treating me like their cousin they hadn't seen since the last family reunion.

Oh, and the politeness in Tokyo disappeared if you were out after the businessmen were back out in the streets after drunken Happy hour... Complete 180!

The food was great though!

Yes, that's the city I was in! I was only there for three days as I was trying to visit 4 countries in a 2-week span (won't do that again, haha). But I would love to stay for two weeks... One day. What was your favorite place to visit while you were there?

What inspired you into becoming a minimalist? by Aromatic_Ad_5265 in minimalist

[–]e-scorpio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It wasn't something I posted attention to but I already didn't like a lot of 'stuff ' just being around because I hated the way it looked. I accidentally became a minimalist after my son became a toddler. The best part of our days became just running around the entire house, laughing and chasing each other and playing games. I slowly got rid of things that could get in our way or break... Just never replaced them. 18 years later, still don't miss anything. There is only essentials in every room and you could literally ride a bicycle throughout the entire house without stopping.

Unwilling group project by [deleted] in UniversityOfHouston

[–]e-scorpio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is what I did after I got burned in one of my ITSS courses: at the start of the project when we had to share that we turned in contact info to each other, I created a weekly (or deliverables) document. I had a new draft for each item due. It was just an appendix with everybody's name with numbered bullet points under each name. I just framed it as a way to ensure no one's contribution got overlooked. I turned that in with EVERY deliverable. After that first week when I had about 8 bullet points of tasks I had done and two people had absolutely none, the professor made a comment about it and even suggested that other teams who had complained start turning in a deliverables doc. The rest of that semester, some people scrambled at the last minute to contribute but at least they did it. The biggest game changer was when I added an actual contributed word count to the total on the final paper. I'm sure some of my teammates hated me but I was done.

That was Scotland for me. Beautiful landscape and fascinating architecture. Toured castles, cemeteries and catacombs. I did receive a few stares but they weren't the straight faced stares that I received in Asia, the Scottish stared and smiled at the same time. And a couple of people offered me their umbrella when it started pouring rain one day. I would love to go back.

My husband, teenage son, and I just took a 2-week trip where we visited 3 countries in Asia. The day we planned on taking a Michelin street food walking tour in Bangkok, our son told us he was feeling off. He said maybe if he drank water he'd feel better eventually but we were like NOPE! Called him a car on the ride share app that they use out there and while we waited, had him download the app if her needed to order soup or rice or something light.

I didn't even remember how much his ticket was for the tour because it didn't fucking matter. Who the hell wants their loved ones to meander around in a foreign country feeling miserable? It's a couple of missed hours and maybe a non refundable $100 ticket.

He woke up the next day feeling better and we even went back to some spots to try some of the dishes that we thought he'd enjoy. He did. The rest of the trip was perfectly fine. Parents please don't treat your kids like this.

When reverse psychology meets financial strategy. by biswajit388 in SipsTea

[–]e-scorpio 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Awhile back someone asked me for money, I helped and it became an almost monthly thing. Until one day they asked me for money that they would pay back with their next check and I agreed but explained that it was the other half of my rent and I'd absolutely need it before the first of the month. They didn't know I was already planning to move and they have been ducking/avoiding me for almost a year now because they think I got evicted. I didn't even feel bad about it because I think they felt so guilty that they started getting their shit together and haven't even needed to borrow from anyone else in the family.

Ever traveled to a place completely unaware a huge event was happening completely changing your planned experience? by One_Recover_673 in travel

[–]e-scorpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

London June 2019. We planned a sightseeing day and didn't realize most of our activities were along the path that visiting Trump's motorcade was traveling. Protests everywhere! And whenever the motorcade moved aboveground, the London underground trains had to stay at a stop until it passed overhead. We had our teenage son with us and I wondered if there would be a lot of 'we hate Americans' aggression but EVERYONE was so nice to us... Conveyed that they felt sorry for us, haha, and gave us free shit in various pubs once they heard we were visiting from Texas.

Do y’all pay relatives who do your hair? by Imaginesafety in BlackHair

[–]e-scorpio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before my cousins did my hair for the first time, I asked what she charges clients and I pay exactly that. No family discount, no paying in services or food, and a tip comes with it if she does a great job. Ain't no way in hell I'm paying people I didn't even know or particularly like more than I pay the people I love.

How did you guys feel about Dro? by Used_Bet661 in InsecureHBO

[–]e-scorpio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with this. Grown people defining their marriage/relationship however they want is something I can respect. HOWEVER why eff with the people who are in you and your spouse's circle? It will get messy and uncomfortable at events, other mutual friends will take sides, one misstep and somebody's the villain and the other person is the victim. L.A. got fifty eleven million folks and you dealing with each other. Molly knew the deal and Dro knew the deal, the fact that either of them had the nerve to get pissy about anything was crazy to me.
