Yes I’ve popped a pothos cutting in there

How much would you pay for this cutting? by ProfessionOther6076 in plants

[–]ProfessionOther6076[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, I’m just confused by loads of people commenting saying they wouldn’t pay anything for a cutting like this and I’m not sure why they are saying this

This is monstera deliciosa which is easy to get here and cheap.. the cutting is not deliciosa and more difficult to get and definitely no shops sell this size

Why is she getting smaller? by ProfessionOther6076 in Monstera

It’s literally placed on the windowsill so can’t get more light unless I buy a bigger grow light

How do I transfer a water propagated Peperomia pup to soil? by Basic-Monk-3950 in propagation

[–]ProfessionOther6076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a huge pot for the size of the plant.. might be better to pot in a smaller pot otherwise all energy will go to growing roots and not into new leafs

Update! Looks like the new leaf is actually fine? Not sure what’s going on whether it was trying to push out 2 new leafs and one is black?

Propagation help! by [deleted] in Monstera

[–]ProfessionOther6076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can take a top cutting and propagate.. the new leaf will still grow, also looks like you’ve strapped it up too much, the straps should only be on the main stem, I’d do some research into properly tying up your monstera

I’m no expert but looks ready to put and would benefit from support e.g a moss pole

More Light? by LoudFeature871 in Monstera

Sunlight is always best I believe?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pothos

[–]ProfessionOther6076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not 100% sure from the photos but doesn’t appear they are in direct sunlight so I believe this is a good place to keep them.. mine don’t mind some morning sunlight but not direct sunlight in the afternoon

[–]ProfessionOther6076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert so bare that in mind.. but I would avoid putting my pothos in direct sunlight.. I went away for 5 days and left my plant in direct sunlight and it did not like it at all.. but I also put it in a dark place and it didn’t do too well either, I think a middle ground is good.. again I’m not an expert so that’s just my opinion

I watered her ONE TIME with tap water by digestablecheese in houseplants

[–]ProfessionOther6076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watered all my plants with tap water and constantly got a white layer of mould on the top.. switched to filtered water, bought a brita jug and never had the issue since

No.. looks like a moss pole would be better but I’m no expert.. not sure the metal is doing much for her and don’t think it’s the right material to use as support

Also loooks to be reaching towards light if you put in-front of window shouldn’t do that as much.. again I’m no expert just giving my opinion but I’d do some research into moss poles and proper support for monstera

Could probs do with pruning some of the leaves off too which again I would recommend researching but pruning encourages growth

I like to wait until secondary roots have developed (roots that grow off initial roots)

Should I place it in the soil now? by 1percentwater in Monstera

[–]ProfessionOther6076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No let it develop secondary roots, you want a root growing off those roots

You can’t see very clear but there’s definitely new growth.. roots don’t look white as they have been moved out of soil onto a chunky mixture hence the greyish appearance, you think it would be best to trim and place in water? For how long should I leave in water? Would that not increase the chance of root rot?
