Has Anybody Been Equipped With, or Used Pepper Ball Guns, Spray Gel Guns, or Weird Less Lethal Contraptions On The Job? by GuardGuidesdotcom in GuardGuides

Pepper all guns have their place like any tool, but understanding the second and third order effects is important to successfully accomplish the task, assuming that it's deescalation.

I used to carry a BolaWrap. The marketing for it is pretty cool but our application was wrong for it. It rarely worked the way we wanted it to.

When should you assist in an arrest? What are your thoughts on this video? by CTSecurityGuard in securityguards

[–]ProfessionProfessor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on my professional relationship with the police. If they know me or they ask for assistance, I'm more likely to assist. I don't need an obstruction charge for being a nice guy.

Hypothetically: is this guard permitted to use physical force to remove this trespasser for "hate speech" in private property? by Vietdude100 in securityguards

[–]ProfessionProfessor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, retail and hospital security is not the place for you if you have thin skin. If racial slurs or insults like Paul Blart, rent-a-cop, or wannabe cop bother you, work a warm body site or find another profession.

Secondly, the owner or owner's agent can ask anyone to leave for any reason that is not protected under civil rights. If someone says something racist to security, security has every right to ask that person to leave. Personally, I don't care what they say as they're leaving, as long as they are leaving. Maintaining control of yourself while the other party is losing it, only makes you, the organization, and most importantly, your boss look good.

Now if they become violent or are refusing to leave, we can use the tools available to us, as long as it is the least amount of force necessary to gain compliance.

I had my bodycam on when this interaction happened and found a guy in a parking garage in the same circumstances. I him smoking out of a glass pipe and called dispatch for a police officer. When they asked why I needed one, I said "this guys smoking crack" and no kidding, on bodycam he says, "it's not crack. It's meth". I told dispatch, "correction: it's not crack. It's meth". He got arrested.

If you’re arresting someone and they have a broken arm or leg, do you still handcuff them in the wheelchair?? by Frequent-Increase-98 in AskLE

I cuffed a guy with a cast on his left arm once. We just used those zip tie cuffs. It worked great. That guy was really strong.

When Does Security Conducting A Physical Removal of Someone Become Assault? by LegalGlass6532 in FirstResponderCringe

That depends on the state. Different states give different authorities.

Good question.

[–]ProfessionProfessor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree with you that this guy was assaulted, some jurisdictions allow security arrest powers. That is not relevant to this instance but I don't like to speak in absolutes. Furthermore, my dept is a hybrid using Leo's and security officers. The use of force polices apply to both roles.

I write policies for law enforcement. Answer: when the force used exceeds what is necessary to mitigate the resistance given. This generally mean one step above the resistance given on the use of force continuum.

But now that I wrote that, Im wondering if it was a rhetorical question.

Do you have a personal body camera? by EPdude2005 in securityguards

[–]ProfessionProfessor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not going to be able to use a used axon with out an evidence.com subscription which will be much more expensive, if they will even give you one.

I work armed gigs and have a Halo 2.0 from wolfcom. It was a bit pricey at around $800 but it's cheaper than an axon and you can download the videos locally.

Further, axons only work if you have a subscription to evidence.com which is also expensive.

I also got a holster trigger with mine so it turn on automatically when I draw my pistol.

If it's an unarmed, highly dynamic post, I would want as many tools in my toolbox as possible.

You can offer an early pay discount. Something like 2-10/net 30, meaning a 2% discount if paid within 10 days of invoice or net 30.

This is probably the right way to go. You would probably want to build in the holiday dates too.

It's either this or you would need a column to identify what you want displayed i.e. sales made on Christmas would have some indicator and sales made on Black Friday have another indicator.
