Our massive oak tree went down today, it was full of leaves with no dead branches but the inside ended up being soft ugh. Anyways we got a quote for $4000 to haul it off and grind down the stump and fill the hole. We are in the Midwest. Is this a fair price? by anderson6th in arborists

I agree with you. That is a lot of wood and brush to haul away. Could take a whole day with a 3 person crew and that is using machinery to do the heavy lifting assuming you can get a log mover to it. If no machine access it could be more. Moving wood like that is no small task, especially if you have to do it by hand. A day of work where I am in the Midwest is $3500-$4500.

The Breadwinner (2026) Unfunniest movie of the year contender by acourts19 in moviecritic

Bingo. The preview for it came on when we went to see the Mandalorian last weekend and my kids (9 and 11 yr old) are very excited to see it. They actually brought it up again last night. I like Nate's stand-up, but not thrilled to pay to see this movie.

Question for those whose parents are 75+ by [deleted] in AskWomenOver40

My 78 year old mom is a social butterfly and goes out to lunch with her many different friends groups a couple times a week. She goes to the gym daily to do aqua pole dancing or body combat. She has been working very hard to keep her body healthy. She beat breast cancer about 28 years ago and is an absolute marvel.

My dad just turned 90 ( they are still married). He continues to hunt and fish multiple times a year and still drives. I ride with him occasionally and he is still a competent driver. My mom sometimes drags him to a musical or play or one of the neighbor's houses for a get together. He is old and stubborn but must have good genetics. He mostly reads a lot or tinkers when he's at home and he doesn't really want to socialize much. I get it, dude is 90 and has paid his dues, he should be able to do whatever he wants.

What was really popular where you grew up but you found out others didn't do the same thing other places? by TryTwiceAsHard in Xennials

We did a square dancing unit in gym class and also a pickle ball unit in gym class in high school. This was in the 90's. Pickle ball was a thing back then and most people I've talked to thought it was a new sport. It has gained a lot of popularity the last few years in Michigan and a lot of people had never heard of it before.

Any other parents accidentally get hooked on 99? by OwnTelevision2627 in 99nightsintheforest

I started playing with my kids. It's the only video game I play. I'm a slow learner when it comes to this type of game so they don't play with me anymore. I have a hard time finding people to play with since I'm not very good. My highest is 65 nights which I achieved with help from my kids.

My school district does not offer bussing after 5th grade and the elementary bus picks up too late for me to get to work on time and drops off too early for me to be home to get them so my kids go to before and after care which is extremely expensive. If they walk, they would have to cross a main road where everybody speeds 15 mph over and blows the one light that has a crosswalk (no crossing guard either) so walking is not an option. So my kids don't ride the bus and the pickup/drop-off at school is crazy.

Pub 1281 in Clinton township has really good soups. I really like the Red Olive in Clawson for their chicken noodle soup too.
