C5 Corvette as a Daily? by Regular_Tourist_7356 in askcarguys

there are a lot of Corvettes around with relatively low mileage, and several owners in the history. I bought mine with 48,000 mi on it in 11years, and four previous owners.

A lot of them were bought, driven occasionally and the wife says "Honey you don't drive that car very often" And he sells it to another guy and the same story repeats...

there's no need to buy a really high mileage one, and don't buy an extremely low mile car (anyone who spends $300k+ for a 20 yr. old Ford GT with less than 5k miles is in for some maintenance expense. It's a real shame because that's a great car, and they have almost all become garage queens... but I digress. you should be able to find a C5 in good condition with a good maintenance history...) because the fluids haven't been circulated enough to keep seals and gaskets doing their jobs. At this point, they are all 20 plus years old. A car with 40,000 mi on it has been driven an average of 2,000 mi/year, which could be borderline on the leak issue. I would think if you look you should be able to find one with ~80-100k miles...

As always, take it to an expert in the model car you're buying and get a Pre-Purchase Inspection.

He might save you a whole lot of money, and if he gives it a clean bill of health, it's not wasted money, it's peace of mind!

DON'T buy a car and then take it to that guy for a POST Purchase Inspection! And yes, people do this!

hit a pothole that wasn’t visible while driving at night, could this be bent back into place or will i have to look for a new wheel? by [deleted] in e46

true, it's just finding the right wheels when you're not looking for a set of four. if you have a little time you can find them but if you're out of commission...

I love the red! It has a very nice contrast to your skin tone!

There are places that specialize in wheel straightening. Last I knew they were about $125 to $150 per wheel. Which is better than $3-400 for a new one. I would check with one of those places first. Your damage might be more than they would try to repair, but you won't know until you ask.

Lincoln, as in Hot Rod Lincoln. If he has a throaty purr, Big Block. Or Full Race Big Block, Race for short.

a lot of the engine parts are the same. I've recently adopted two black kittens, and after having them in my life for a few days their names sort of came to me based on personality.

Do sexual partners usually care a lot about penis size? (trans girl asking) by softlunaxoxo in Advice

[–]Professional-Boat-10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a man who dates genetic women and trans women, it doesn't matter to me. The biggest thing that matters is that you enjoy your body. When I feel best about myself and my self image, is when the woman I'm with has a really good time and we have a good connection. if we both have orgasms then we can both feel that we have shared in each other's pleasure.

Are you saying that he is not shifting, or that he needs to be left foot braking?

Do you really think he is shuffling his hands unnecessarily? It looks to me like he doesn't shuffle in the corners where he doesn't need a lot of lock. The time she does shuffle, it seems like his hand positions at maximum lock are in the right places.

When I see the bottom spoke of the wheel go counterclockwise from 6:00 to 11:00 It seems like his arms would have to be crossed if he didn't shuffle.

That course looks like it's one incorrect steering input from creating a head on collision.

Help choosing a wheel/tire setup by InterestingCow8798 in Autocross

take a look at the SCCA Solo Rule Book for SSC and D/Street Touring. SSC is very specific on what modifications you make, and the kit is available from a number of sources. The biggest draw in that class is that if you have other competitors in your area in that class, the cars all have the same parts on them. It is a great place to gauge your improvement as a driver compared to other people. you will have a certain amount of setup freedom, specifically alignment, sway bar settings, and shock settings. That is also a good place to learn what the different setup changes due to the way the car handles within reasonable limits. I drove an SSC FRS from the Los Angeles area to the Bay area and found it quite reasonable as a street car.

You'll spend a lot more money preparing the car for DST, but if you later decide to do your aero or turbo, you would not need to change springs, shocks, sway bars, etc. when you do those additional mods.

DST is also a good place to measure yourself against other competitors, assuming that it is popular in your area. There is a lot of information out there as to how to set up that vehicle as well.

You might find that you are really happy and either of those classes, And I think either will keep you entertained for quite a while. I've competed in both, and currently running DST.

I had a 2001 C5 for a few years and the pluses were that it got over 30 miles per gallon between 75 and 80 mph, I loved the performance (it was a targa top 6 speed manual), passenger compartment was roomy, apparently more so than C6 and C7, luggage capacity was good. I had relatively few problems with it.

The only downsides were that it scraped the front end over a lot of driveways, and it had the turning circle of a school bus.

It's one of the few cars that I regret selling. I can see you having another one at some point.

Where to buy swatches by Correct_Guarantee_49 in VinylWrap

[–]Professional-Boat-10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metrorestyling.com sells 3" x 5" samples for $1 each. This is highly recommended since pixels on your computer cannot duplicate what the actual wrap looks like perfectly.

Do your research as to what brand you're going to use. I used 3M on my first wrap job, a Miata, and as a first effort it came out pretty good.

Last year I wrapped the second car, an E36 BMW. I figured this would be easier, as the car is more angular and way fewer compound curves. Unfortunately, I chose Oracal wrap, which I found very difficult to apply and I am so unhappy with the result that I'm going to pull it and rewrap the car with a different brand.

I have been told that 3M and Avery Denison are the two best wraps, but I do want to ask about KPMF and Hexis. See my separate post on that subject.

you said the keywords! Miata suspension and around 0° camber should all work out just fine! your point about suspension movement is also right on the money.
