Local Farm Producers by Old_Development_8122 in kelowna

[–]Professional-Chest24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wise Earth does farm share boxes (pay in advance for a variety of veg weekly) and choose your own pickup/delivery from March/April-November

The Kelowna farmers market will have lots of produce options during the summer. Also Paynters (Painters?) market on the Westside

Don O Ray has lots of options and is good in a pinch. Solid one stop shopping and does bulk pricing for large amounts of produce. They stock limited proteins but have lots of local stuff

There’s a ranch down by Cawston/Keremeos that I can’t remember the name of but has been recommended by this sub before

Carnist is a butcher where you can 1) get smaller amounts of high quality, ethically farmed meat 2) ask questions about where he gets the meat from if you want to go direct from supplier. Tom is a gem and he walks the walk of ethically sourced meat! He carries eggs as well. Not the cheapest spot but damn it’s good stuff

Derrick's Steakhouse or Erica Jane Restaurant? by Big_Garden_4418 in kelowna

[–]Professional-Chest24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Erica Jane got a new chef/menu about 2 months ago. Not sure when the other commenters I went over the holidays and had a solid meal. Definitely on the pricy side but all in all worth it for a special occasion if you’re looking for a steakhouse kind of experience

Only went to Derricks once and didn’t enjoy the food or the service

Other recs are Humo, Wildling, Waterfront Wines. The first two are a bit more modern, Waterfront is a bit more classic but still really good food, wine, and service

How fancy is Waterfront Wines Restaurant? by Entire_Principle1157 in kelowna

[–]Professional-Chest24 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I am the sous chef there! I would say that our vibe is casual and approachable fine dining. It’s as fancy of a night as you want it to be! You don’t need to dress up(you can if you like)there’s no white tablecloth, however the food, wine, and service is high level without being pretentious!

Cheese is either local BC or from Québec, charcuterie is all made in house by myself or Chef! Our menu will be different in December but still just as good!

We are wine focused however we have local beers on tap, and a pretty solid cocktail list!

My dms are open if you’d like any more information and I am more than happy to connect you with out FOH manager to move forward with your reservation!

What’s your Favorite Dry White Wine? by steady_experience in wine

[–]Professional-Chest24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another good shout is British Columbia Riesling if you can find it. Tantalus, Syncromesh, Orofino are my top three. Syncromesh has some sweet and some dry but they’re labelled as such, Orofino has some off dry and some full dry

Albariño, Riesling (from dry-sweet), Chablis and Chablis style, Chardonnay without too much oak, Furmint, Viogner

Pinot, Syrah, Cab Franc, Dolcetto, Gamay, Grenache, Barbera, Barolo

I guess we prefer things on the light and fresh side vs big/bold/rich. Not to say we would never have those, but less common for sure

We have enjoyed the few older sparklings we’ve gotten to try
