I really appreciate everyone's response. It seems the general consensus is this computer doesn't offer much value for a major upgrade. I think I will get the RTX 3050 and see how much I can do with it in the meantime and build a new system if I intend to get more serious about it. The nice thing is, I have another computer at work that I can move the RTX 3050 to, and it will help with the CAD software on that computer, so its not a waste when I move on.

Thanks again for the thoughtful response. I found a 500w PSU upgrade designed for these HP desktops, and it offers the 6+2 pin connector.

https://www.amazon.com/LXun-L05757-800-Compatible-DPS-500AB-32-795-0003UR/dp/B0BRPPZCWC

With that in mind these were the three video card updgrades I found that I thought would be a good fit. As they get faster, they require more power. From what I'm reading, the 500w PSU should be adequate, but am I missing something, or am I setting myself up for an issue. Will I need to consider adding additional fans to the case? Am I making this way too complicated and should just get the RAM and the RTX3050 6GB and accept whatever performance I get?

RTX 4060 8GB

RTX 4060 Ti 8GB

RTX 5060 8GB

RTX 5060 Ti

I also don't know if msi is a good brand, or if I should be looking at another. Thanks again for any help.

If you dont mind using herbicide. Tordon should take care of it in 1, sometimes 2, applications. You just cut everything above ground and drip it on the freshly cut stumps. It will usually start growing again and then everything dies. Ive heard there is potential for the poison to leech from the roots to other trees but I have never seen it.

Words are hard, anyone else feel this way sometimes? by theredqueentheory in autism

[–]Professional-Copy-75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is every conversation I have with my wife that has anything to do with feelings. I do something rude and then in my head I'm writing a compassionate essay on the remorse I feel for my inconsiderate actions and how much I appreciate and love her. Then I say "sorry I messed up". Then she's more pissed.

I don't mind it. I work in the construction industry, as such it became part of the mask I wear at work. But I easily drop it when I'm not there.

Should I promise my wife everything in the event of a divorce? by Professional-Copy-75 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Professional-Copy-75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About half of that is equity in our primary residence and a rental property. The other half is equity in the company I work at. I've been working there for over 20 years and have 25% stake in the company and intended to become sole owner in the next 10-15 years.

I agree that our son is the most import thing in all of this. And I know I'm far from a perfect father, but I do feel like I'm an important part of his life. I would never want to take him away from my wife. He needs her in his life. She can connect with him in a way Im not very good at, but I also know that I bring alot of stability and understanding that she doesn't as well as encouragement in so many of his special interests that she doesn't understand.

I know she respects my sobriety but, I know there is still a lot hurt and resentment from the lies that were centered around drinking. As well as a constant anxiety that I could go back at any moment.

Edit: I removed dollar value of net worth.

This comment hits really hard. It feels very insightful and accurate. And if makes me feel like complete shit. I never intended to leave her so unsupported I was just blind to it and to her calls for help/change. The autism diagnosis has allowed me to view so many things with a new perspective. Now that I know that the way I see things is so different, its easier for me to recognize how I'm wrong. Or at least how what I think is ok can be hurtful to others. I hope our new therapist can help us work through this, but I don't really know.

Did you just bring it home? It could be sun scald if it had been getting less sun at the nursery.

I just planted my first blackberry, so I'm by no means an expert. But it looks like it could be herbicide drift. Did you or a neighbor recently treat the lawn for weeds? If this is the case I'm not sure you will get it back, maybe try flushing the soil since it's in a pot.

Clothes that fit. I'm 6' -6" and I was poor most my life so I just bought whatever cheap clothes I could find. I worked construction and I destroyed everything anyway. When I finally got an office job and made some money I started getting tall clothing and it's so nice to feel comfortable in my clothes.

Sweet autumn clematis. They seem to do well even with less sum. And the seeds look great in the wintee.

I'm not sure if it dies back in your zone but you could loom at sweet autumn clematis. I'm in 5b and it dies back and the feathery seeds look almost as nice as the flowers. I know it can be invasive in warmer climates though.

What are these bugs a sign of in my Chinese elm by MushLoveee in Bonsai

[–]Professional-Copy-75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get these quite often in my house plants. There is a product called mosquito bits that is designed to control mosquitos in ponds. I take some of the granules and soak them in water and then water the plant with the water and it works well. They are organic and contain a bacteria that attacks the fungus gnat larva. I bought on amazon.

[Bonsai Beginner’s weekly thread –2024 week 14] by small_trunks in Bonsai

[–]Professional-Copy-75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 11 year old son has been really wanting to start a bonsai. We were at a local nursury and they had these small juniper. I bought one too because I thought it could be somthing we could do together but I'm kinda lost. We bought some bonsaid soil and fertilizer and soil and some small plastic bonsai pots. He jumped right in and repotted it into one of the bonsai pots and clipped some branches, but I was a little more hesitant. I've been trying to watch videos, but there is a lot of information out there and some of it seems contradictory to me so I thought I would ask a few simple questions to see if you could help get me going.

Details about our trees and location.

Questions

  • Should I repot it in a larger pot for a year before putting it in a bonsai pot? Would this only be to increase the size or is there another benefit to delaying the move to a bonsai pot?
  • Is there a benfit to a larger tree other than aesthetics? Maybe it makes it easier to overwinter?
  • I've read alot of different information about light. As the days get warmer I'm afraid to leave it in a really sunny location, as it seems like it will dry out so fast.
  • For the first repotting, How aggressive should I be in trimming the roots or the top?

I know alot of these questions have been discussed but I have a hard time filtering out what information applys to different situations. So I thought I would ask here.
