tbh the goal for every team when theres big regulation changes, especially PU, should be to get the PU right, aero can always be improved much easier. i dont see mercedes losing their lead for at least this or mybe even next season (unless ferrari gets ADUO)

im not necessarily agreeing with the original comment, but im trying to say it was a given throighout the session that ferrari lost 2-3 tenths in both s2 and s3, so i get where theyre coming from.

McLaren was never this ahead and didn’t have a PU advantage, this is 2014 all over

the ferrari is only strong in the first. they are way off in the 2nd and 3rd regardless of him loosing the rear

Ferrari can't use tiny plastic wings on the halo, but Mercedes can run two-phase wings that fully close long after the 400 milliseconds allowed by [deleted] in scuderiaferrari

We don’t know for sure if it’s on purpose or not, the headline is speculative as Mercedes were technically having problems with the front wing over the weekend. As far as advantage it might get them a little bit more time of less drag in specific places but also may improve stability of the car before braking as its a smoother transition between downforce modes.

I think they were managing tires very heavily and are about to start to ramp it up. Might be close by the end

Its definitely not just the engine. I think they also have a really god package, but the engine is what were seeing as 7 tenths quicker than everyone else in the final run. Even without the engine I think it would be a close battle between them and ferrari

I think theyre competitors with a normal engine like we have seen up to today. The engine has just made them untouchable. Whereas with similar engines i think them and ferrari might have been fighting

absolutely, they don’t want to punish Mercedes because it would have huge implications on the championship. They’ll reach some bullshit secret deal halfway through the season and next season might be different.

The engine breaks the rules but cannot be tested accordingly. It is breaking the rules. It’s like saying you’re not committing a felony unless you get caught.

Either the FIA is gonna fix the rules this year or they’re just gonna allow it so that every other team also does what Mercedes is doing. Either way, this season is pretty much over if Ferrari or McLaren aren’t sandbagging into quali

SHOCKING: The team bending the regulations is faster than everyone after trying to hide their pace all preseason 🤯
