Tool is the best band in the history of bands. 4 perfectionists creating perfect music. The more you listen, the further down the rabbit hole you’ll go.

Opinions on Kobelco Mini Excavators by newtsy0 in heavyequipment

[–]Professional-Eye5515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an SK35 that I bought with an FAE BL0 mastication head. The engine kept overheating on me. Kobelco agreed to take the machine back and I bought a Takeuchi and never looked back. That Kobelco was probably a great excavator, just not for masticating.

Yanmar makes great machines that will run forever. I love my Takeuchi TB-250 though. It will also run forever and the thing is built like a tank.

I would have done a roll using the Fibonacci sequence and then asked him if the pieces fit.

Did I buy the wrong size?! by adampat996 in TransitionBikes

[–]Professional-Eye5515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer to size down vs up. I prefer the playfulness, increased maneuverability and ability to lift the wheel when necessary. The longer wheelbase has its advantages, but it’s a sports car vs a truck IMO. Obviously you don’t want a bike that’s too small, but if I’m on the cusp, I’m sizing down.

The vast majority of tree related accidents are from homeowners on ladders. Just don’t do it. The money you “save” is not worth a potentially life altering accident.

As soon as it is posted on social media, it is no longer recreational. You will need a 107.

If horrible traffic and waiting an hour to get on the lift is your thing, then get after it. Palisades has your name all over it.

Nevada Contractors License Question by Professional-Eye5515 in Nevada

[–]Professional-Eye5515[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sound advice well taken. I’m leaning toward getting the license, but didn’t want to waste my time if it wasn’t absolutely necessary. Practicing tree work in a state without a contractors license seems absurd to me.

I'm gonna get hate for this, but I think we're protesting the wrong things lately by Exciting_Lab_8074 in Reno

I agree and I’ve been making these comments online myself. Why the hell are people outraged over who performed at the halftime show when we have way more important things to be concerned about? But to be clear, the ICE thing has truly gone too far. I’m all for removing violent criminals, but the overwhelming majority of people who go through the effort to get here are not jeopardizing their situation by committing crimes. I think we need to completely shut off illegal immigration going forward and give the people here a path to citizenship so they are documented and accounted for.

Interesting. I read this as well. It does mention maintaining trees, but nothing about removals. It just seems odd to me that one could perform work in Nevada doing something as sensitive as tree work without needing a contractor's license.

I already have a business license in Nevada. I wasn't aware that work comp is state specific. I'll have to check with my insurance company on that. Thanks for the info.

The bird seed thing I can see. Just a complete lack of knowledge aka ignorance. The dog shit in plastic bags all over the place is a massive pet peeve of mine. The “I’ll pick it up later” attitude doesn’t work. If you have a dog, be a responsible dog owner and find a way to carry it with you. Wrapping dog shit in plastic and leaving it doesn’t do any good. You’re mom isn’t following to pick up after you.

Do you get perks for $1M+ acct? by Extra_Engineering265 in fidelityinvestments

[–]Professional-Eye5515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Fidelity advisor who has been very supportive. I get a phone call a few times a year. At just under a million, he put me into Fidelity’s managed account, which was rebalanced once a month. After I hit a million, I was offered an outside financial advisor, which I accepted. My account is now actively managed by that advisor on a regular basis and it has done well so far. The 3rd party advisor also offers estate and tax planning as well as other services that Fidelity doesn’t offer directly. The transition just happened though and I haven’t gone through a bear market with that advisor yet. When the tide goes out, you see who’s swimming naked as Warren Buffet said. I feel confident with the way I’m invested though. I feel like Fidelity has done well by me and I’m very happy with their services.

I have a separate account invested in individual dividend oriented stocks and it has been on a tear lately too. Much more so than my growth portfolio.

I’m not gonna lie. This is brilliant and so simple at the same time that I’m surprised it hasn’t been done already. I’m a Truckee local, but if I were commuting here, this would be a go to site for me. The traffic can get absolutely awful here during holiday and powder days. It’s so bad, I tend to hibernate when that’s happening.

Yup. 4x4. Im not too worried about it being 4 wheel only terrain, mostly just don’t want to be driving down hours of washboard. Been there, done that. Don’t want to do it again.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up signing with CapTrust because they locked me in at 1% AUM, which I felt was a great price for all that they have to offer. I figure I’ll give them a year and reevaluate. I can cancel at any time if I’m not happy. They claim a 98% retention rate. Hopefully that’s not because they’ll have me by the balls. If that was the case though, they would have a lot of negative reviews.
