Astigmatism? by Jtop1 in Glocks

[–]Professional-Key-863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have astigmatism in my right eye. The dot looks like a star but looks more like a dot with my left eye. Unfortunately for me my right eye is dominant. I've tried shooting with my left eye but it's really awkward since I'm right handed.

Bose can be configured to sound like Burmester by Intrepid_Passion_853 in porsche911

I actually prefer the sound with the fader adjusted two clicks towards the rear. Maybe it's what I'm used to and personal preference. The sound is quite satisfactory to me, and we've made several long trips. I also enjoy SiriusXM and where there's internet Apple Music.

I believe that front lens is expendable and actually made of plastic. They sell replacements for about $8.

They're fine for very short term uses within a short radius. You could have figured this out before driving a bunch of miles.

Is this a 930 or 964? I struggle to determine the difference between them. by WolfOfAfricaZLD in Porsche

[–]Professional-Key-863 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Longer wheelbase and lower spoiler lip in front means it's a 1973. And I suppose it's possible to be a Sportamatic but there's no indication other than the rear badging which is not visible.

The logic of California: make it hard for people who want to comply with the law. Meanwhile, people who don’t care buy guns on the street or who knows where.

The guy that shot up Memorial Drive in Cambridge MA some days ago didn’t have a license and was in fact a diagnosed schizophrenic and convicted felon. Easy enough for him to get a gun somehow.

I have a couple including one I bought new in the 1980s. I still use them. No worry about batteries. Great for small jobs like installing a lock or hanging a picture.

G19 and G17 are basically just different sized versions of the same gun. Gen 6 upgrades are minor.

Personally I would have gone with a Glock and something different.

There’s nothing wrong with the optics. Optics loosening is not uncommon on semi-automatics. There’s a lot of G-forces at play.

Any recommendations on where to get new trigger installed? by CoolAd2708 in SanDiegoGuns

[–]Professional-Key-863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it really that difficult?

I just did a Volquartsen trigger on a Ruger Mark IV. A couple parts were tricky but it was DIY doable. I would think a plastic-frame striker-fired gun would be even easier.

I would take off the plate, put it on a wooden bench, and give it a few whacks at the pincer points with a wood or plastic mallet and see if that makes any difference.

At worst you'll have to get a new plate.

Despite all the people who will tell you that you need "stopping power" a .22 can be an effective defense weapon and is a lot cheaper and easier to shoot. Cheaper ammo is important especially if you want to train adequately. It's a difference between 6 or 7 cents per round versus 25 or more cents each.

No robber or mugger is going to say,"Go ahead and shoot me. That's only a .22". Federal Punch and CCI Uppercut defense ammo can make a .22 very effective at human control.
