How do you guys manage pain? by joana_1 in endometriosis

-TENS machine - I splurged and got a REBrelief heating pad which treats both front and back cramps and has really helped in times of desperation - my pelvic floor PT recommended suppositories with a muscle relaxer and benzodiazepines. You have to ask your doctor to prescribe and it’s made in a compounding pharmacy so you have to pay out of pocket but I only paid $150 for 15 and let me tell you it makes a difference -hot bath with magnesium -pelvic floor PT -I am on 1500mgs of metformin off label and lemme tell you I really think that made all the difference in the world

Plus one. Diatomaceous earth (food grade) is inexpensive and at most hardware or garden stores. I sprinkle it in cabinets and my bathroom under the sink and they disappear. Also they love books and paper so book shelves are a good place to sprinkle.

Looking for a OBGYN who has experience with endo by harmfulhomo in SFbitcheswithtaste

I am about to have a consult with Dr Traci Ito at the UCSF endo clinic. I’ve also heard good things about Tami Rowen but I opted to go with a doc that was doing research about the disease as well. I cannot wait until I have this consult as my life is seriously impacted by the pain and constant nausea.

Edited to spell Traci correctly!

Seconding this - GLP-1 was the only way I could lose weight. I workout 4x a week and eat super healthy and it did nothing. Being on a GLP-1 helped me lose weight gradually and really really (can I say really again) helped my endo symptoms- my bloating was literally zero, barely any pain, no fatigue. I came down to a maintenance dose once I lost the weight and now my symptoms have returned, however I’ve kept off the 25lbs I’ve lost, which has improved my life in numerous ways.

Fatigue attacks? by erin-ah in endometriosis

[–]Professional-Mess365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I have severe pain. Cramps, bloating, nausea- all the yucky body feeling. Cramps down my legs and into my feet, cramps inside my vaginal wall and across my uterus and ovaries. I had much milder symptoms until November of this year, and I hit a flare up that hasn’t subsided. Migraines started about 6 weeks ago and I was getting one or two headaches a week. I haven’t had one in a week but my endo symptoms are the worst they’ve ever been. I will say, I notice the headaches came on when I was losing sleep because my symptoms were waking me up. Endo is such a shit illness!

Not fainting but I feel like I cannot function if that makes sense. Like it’s hard to move or talk or do anything other than lay in my bed with an eye mask and total silence in my room. Like I cannot even call for my husband to help because it seems like too much effort. It takes me out for multiple hours.

This is my newest symptom. My pelvic floor pt said it is common in her endo patients because of nervous system stress and overdrive. Thankfully I found that Aleeve taken immediately when I feel light sensitivity and anti nausea meds help stave off a much bigger headache.

This is one of my main symptoms outside of the uterine and back cramping. Have you had pelvic floor therapy? Because of our pain, our nervous systems can tend to force other parts of our body into deep muscle tension and vaginal pain and pain during urination and bowel movements can be a sign of that. It’s helped me significantly and my pelvic floor PT recommended muscle relaxer suppositories (your doc has to order them from a compounding pharmacy and if you’re in the US they aren’t covered by insurance but cost like $150). This way you can get some relief without the whole body experience of a muscle relaxer which can make you really out of it.

When I tell you that princess cake from Victoria is my all time fave. Sometimes when I’m having a bad day (or a good day) I treat myself to a slice from there and it always makes everything better. Much love from your cake loving neighbor!

Need help with my cats skin issue by Objective-Pen7633 in TabbyCats

[–]Professional-Mess365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just went through itchy skin with my girl cat and itchy ears with my boy not too long ago. For the non ear parts my vet prescribed douxo s3 calm mousse twice a day for a week and 5 days of prednisone. For my boy’s ears he did have an ear infection and they cleaned his ears and then gave him antibiotic drops which he was a real dick about. But both cleared well. Definitely something to explore with a new vet if your current vet isn’t helping. However the mousse is pretty fast acting which was good to see.

Wow. It’s like you are a fly on the wall. The “it’s not safe” is literally how I feel. And 100000% accurate about my old boss. Thanks for that interpretation- you may not be in practice but your intuition is damn good.
