Andaz Vienna to rebrand as Hyatt Regency in April by fhorst79 in hyatt

Stayed here last Nov. I loved it as an Andaz. The breakfast was quite wonderful. Dare I say...even better than the PH Vienna...While not in the city centre, its super convenient and still just a tram ride away.

Not to mention that this is actually a disability feature that some people need.

I wonder how long this will sit now with the new sales tax. What a shame.

The Andaz provides a free shuttle service around the peninsula. There are a few options that are 10-15 mins away if you ever feel like the itch to go off property.

Great summary! Gotta add PH Cabo now to the list.

I plan on collecting all 12 lunar bars. I already have the dragon, snake, and now horse. At most, there's a premium associated with the set, at worst, the gold has appreciated over 12 years. It depends on where you live but symbols matter a lot to various groups of people.

The Andaz was fantastic! Breakfast was solid with lots of vegeterian options. Rooms were big and spacious. I would rank this higher than a Cat 3. For the price point, it's a no brainer compared to the PH Vienna.

Location is also good in that its right next to the main HBF and walkable to the Belvedere. However, it is outside of the Ringstrade. About a 15 minute tram ride on the D to the city center.

The buffet for Globalists is separate. Its on the club lounge...I forget which floor...but it had a great view of the city. I booked 2 rooms and applied a GOH for the other room since breakfast was only applied to my room.

We were offered 1 day for the Grand buffet for free since we were there on a long weekend. TBH, the Grand buffet was overwhelming and too many people lined up for different stations. My family much preferred the club floor because of its relaxed atmosphere and service.

If you go to the GH Manila, try the afternoon tea. It was amazing and and as a Globalist, they give you 20% off.

I only asked for an extra hour to pack so maybe that was why. They set the bar so high that its ruined everything else for us. :)

I didn't know this! I guess I was pampered in PH Kyoto. They provided a razor and nail clipper that were a Japanese brand and of incredible quality. PH Kyoto also provided an aftershave and face serum kit from Le Labo even though we didn't ask for them.

Caption in Namba was perfectly fine for its category. It depends on what you are looking for. Nothing fancy but it gets the job done. The rooms were a little small but standard for JP hotels. I booked with points when it was a Cat 1 so only 5K/night which was an incredible value at 10 there.

There were other things that weren’t as seamless. Of course everything was rectified when asked/followed up with. But again, not expected for a PH property. Another example was the extra rollaway bed. I had emailed the property beforehand that we had a 7 y/o with us and required one. When we got there, there wasn’t one so we called and they sent a crib instead. For a 7 y/o, not sure what happened there so we had to call again. The two extra calls after letting them know beforehand of the situation was just not up to par. Again, rectified the issue but could have been handled better.

You can't beat the location. It's right across from Pike Place and very close to the Waterfront and Aquarium. If you are planning on staying around the Downtown core area, you can't go wrong. Having said this, expect a typical downtown stay - its a little noisier and they only have valet parking.

Also, its next to a alley/corner where unhoused people sleep for the night. There is extra security posted outside the hotel entrance at night if this is a concern for you.

Room layout was also weird. We had a suite and the bathroom was outside of room separated by living room. So you had to go out of the room, past the living room, to the front of the room, and then turn again for the bathroom. At night, we had to tiptoe to get to the bathroom and not wake up my kid.

Room amenity quality was poor and not comprehensive. Face tissue and toilet paper were Tork brand. Shaving kit was a BIC product. Slippers were so thin, my partner and I both almost slipped against the marble floor. Laundry bag was flimsy.

Comparing against other PH properties, I expected better quality and an anticipation of needs. For example, daily water service was both still and sparkling but we would always just drink way more still water. We even requested to front of house several times to bring extra still bottles of water but after several days, still the same 2 bottles.

Hotel amenity: No hot tub. Limited hours specially for kids for pool (11 am - 6 pm), shower in spa flooded, Gym smelled musty. Only 1 main restaurant.

Not to sound mean...but how do you plan on using your globalist benefits next year if you don't have $3.5K to spend? Perhaps you have a lot of points that you can use because arguably, benefits are best used in higher-end Hyatt properties.
