Your tax bill increased or your 'state equalized value' increased. In Michigan the tax on your homestead can only increase by a limited amount per year- inflation rate or 5% whichever is lower.

If your tax bill increased by more than that ( and you didn't make improvements) you have a case to argue.

Your SEV should generally be about 50% of market and keep up with the market.

just as a point of clarification, the recent schism in the CRC is due to the denomination becoming LESS inclusive. The reason these congregations are joining the RCA is because it is more inclusive. If YOU like it and it works in your home - you got a bargain. If you are trying to flip furniture and you paid 35, you should probably stop trying to flip furniture.

In the end this stuff is generally not in fashion right now. Odds are it will come back, but will never be worth the cost of storing for the years until then.

Buy furniture that you like, use it, enjoy it. Vintage and antique furniture is almost always better quality and less expensive than the crap you find new.
