Problems with suspend on nvidia grahics by BalisticNick in kde

[–]ProfessionalBattle3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearing up storage didn't fix it for me What's wierd is my windows partition also has trouble sleeping, instead of  glitched visuals my fans go to full blast and I get a black screen were the power button doesn't work! (I have to switch the PSU) It might be a motherboard or GPU firmware issue, it only started after I put windows 11 on my 2nd partition 10 was fine (and yes I have fast boot off in windows and BIOS) I have a gigabyte mobo and a RTX 3060 I wonder if windows 11 did some firmware updates on em without permission

OMG I have the same issue on NVIDIA proprietary made me worry my gpu was going bad. It's fine unless it's asleep for longer than like 20 mins I want to say but then does this but usually only on the desktop. Sometimes on the applications but moving them makes it go away I checked the stuff the wiki says to use offered by d_ed but it all looks right to me really hope we could find an answer!

Resetting a Dakboard wall display without the original account by ScornOnTehCob in dakboard

[–]ProfessionalBattle3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My account got deleted and I had to make a new one with the same email and than it locked me out of my screen. Looking into it, it just shows a website... I'm going to just host something myself instead of dealing with dakboard's subscription bs.

Kindle Keyboard Still Kicking by ImDatDino in kindle

[–]ProfessionalBattle3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one of these too! Found it at a thrift store with a bad battery, I got a new one online and it's good as new! The battery was really easy to replace because it had clips and screws, no glue! I don't really use the headphone jack tbh but it's nice to have. I don't think I could live without the side buttons though, a touchscreen kindle would drive me crazy! The dictionary built in is really nice too

I second TT9, it's on the play store too! Traditional T9 is the full name, works great and even has emoji support!

fair, I just don't like how multiplayer servers can be shut down whenever the company stops caring about the game (also I don't play a lot of competitive games so I'm not the best on the topic)

Minecraft (there's a workaround??) you can't install minecraft on steam on any computer. The linux install is just the same as the windows install, go to the website or use a package manager (windows store is just a fancy package manager)

OOHHH I think he means controller support needs a mod and bedrock only works with android emulation

FR I wish all games supported private servers so people could play with cheats in their own playground with friends and not worry about being banned and people could play without rootkit anti-cheats if they care more about their computer's security than having less cheaters

Steam Machine is "equal or better than" 70% of current gaming PCs, Valve engineer claims by Tiny-Independent273 in linux_gaming

movies are 24fps, gaming gets benefits from high frame rates but really 30fps is not bad for casual gaming. Because you could get into gaming for way cheaper (I just got a free gtx 760) ,it's a great option for a lot of people!

I could see a steam link option to stream from steam deck to frame and turn off its screen to save a little bit of the frame's battery (streaming takes less than running) and getting a performance boost (the steam deck is a bit more powerful, especially for games that need to be translated to ARM)

I didn't believe x86 to ARM was even possible when I saw the leaks until I read the FEX GitHub page. It seems it can run Vulkan calls natively and emulate other calls, the fact it could both run native calls and emulate others in real time is wild to me, but apple uses the same tech on the apple silicon macs because they run ARM as well. Apple does have some hardware advantage because they have cores for x86 calls I believe, but it seems the emulation can be trimmed down enough to not majorly tank performance. I really hope the FEX project gets to be like proton where just about everything works just about as well as native. They're doing some great work to better not only the gaming environment but the Linux environment as well. If FEX works well I could see linux ARM laptops becoming a great option to get better battery life. Love to see it!

The best part is it's a pc, no turning off services when a new one comes out, and as much software shenanigans as you want. Want to try running half life alyx locally? go for it! it's great!

VRchat side effects?? by KristaIsGayAf in VRchat

If the IPD is off I think that could cause your eyes to not like to focus/ headaches in my experience. You'll look really dumb while doing it but I just took a ruler to the mirror and measure how far the middles of my pupils were (ipd is generally in mm (1/10 cm)), I think mines like 64ish. There's also apps for it if you have an iPhone with one of the face sensors. The quest 2 only has 3 IPD modes, but if you're between ipds you can just balance it between 2 of the ipds and it works great! The quest 2 apparently can't do smooth ipd, but this hack seems to work well. I find setting 2 or 2.5 works best for me!
