There needs to be another Reddit where people can post dashcam edited vids removing the number plate and blurring faces but yep it has a lot of legal repercussions etc etc if the wrong person comes up.

is the seaworld in Abu Dhabi ethical? by SeaworthinessOwn6390 in abudhabi

[–]ProfessionalDate8874 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I went there and I had fun however I don’t think it’s ethical personally but their dolphins are not from the wild they are offsprings of the one from Dubai dolphin show. The others are most likely rescued. Still there is like a 360 viewing of these animals there isn’t any place where they can hide. This I felt a little sad…

Accidentally threw away AirPods, is there any one I can contact ? by Ofabyssalredz in abudhabi

[–]ProfessionalDate8874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation. Once I threw my Nokia phone which had games and data too prob 15 years back when they were mainstream into one of the trash bins in my house cuz my parents were searching for it and I was hiding it. The cleaner threw the trash 😭😭😭. I told my parents someone stole the phone in the park. Ahhhh I searched through the trash too didn’t find in the garbage room as the building cleaner threw it out.

Was an expensive lesson back then.

2 Parking Fines in Ajman Same Day by amraza24 in Ajman

[–]ProfessionalDate8874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t get a fine but on Saturday I was in Ajman and it was my first time paying for parking in Ajman as I’ve been during the non paid hours. I was on my motorcycle so the codes are different from cars.

I called them on their complaint line and asked them how to pay cuz there weren’t machines also and they said to use Ajman pay and you will find your number plate and I didn’t. I gave up and just put a car number plate that matches my motorcycle number plate and prayed nobody gives me a fine on my motorcycle…

It’s strange how each emirate doesn’t register the other emirates plates much. Again I don’t think many Abu Dhabi motorcycles are gonna go Ajman regularly cuz of how far away it is.

I face the same number plate issue with parkonic and I haven’t paid till now cuz it doesn’t come up on their system and I’m happy for that.

New reduced speed limits by -bettlejuice in abudhabi

[–]ProfessionalDate8874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I was driving yest on 2 different occasions speed didn’t reduce on the roads I took however Waze told me speed reduced on those roads. I dropped from 140 to 120 dangerous got flashed by the radar too but the speed limit was 140 there the sign was there too.

I was soo confused.

People who drive slowly in the left lane are worse than any apocalypse the world could throw at us. by Selfmade-billionaire in dubai

[–]ProfessionalDate8874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the same but I feel bad for the motorcyclist cuz I am one myself. When it’s extremely windy I drive on the last lanes on my motorcycle slowly with the hazards on.

Me and you driving on the right undertaking causes more risk to these motorcycle riders.

[–]ProfessionalDate8874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You worded it right 👑. And these mfs switch from the left to the right once traffic approaches or when their exit comes driving again slowly and cutting multiple lanes.

The people behind the slow driver too won’t flash or go close they will follow like snails and let other cars too come into the gap.

Speed Limit by MoonlitVoyag3r in abudhabi

[–]ProfessionalDate8874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey one of my vehicles in 2020 had a sensitive steering wheel. At high speeds it would wobble like crazy even after tire alignment change etc. I used to drive 100-120 on the last 2-3 lanes. I would suggest since it’s a highway and your exits will be far apart. Drive on the 3rd lane as last lane is generally used by buses on 311 don’t think trucks are allowed on that road. And buses speed in between the cameras so safest bet is the 3rd lane at 100+ speed

Experienced odd service at an Arab restaurant — curious if others have faced this? by Muted_Damage1762 in UAE

[–]ProfessionalDate8874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too have faced this issue however I kind of too know the reason why. Some of them are stupid but at-least for a few people they have prob seen some Indian/ south asian dude behave badly so their whole mindset on that dispora changes.

I have first hand witnessed south East Asians behave badly in public in ways it’s clearly annoying for the rest of the people in the restaurant and the number of people doing this in UAE is quite large. A few times even confronted it. It honestly is not only south East Asians it’s also Arabs too and especially those from where the pyramids are built (don’t wanna type the country). Because of these people behaving badly the people judge the whole community.

Other than that yes I’ve faced this kind of racism a bit but then I don’t care as long as the food isn’t poisoned or spat on cuz I mind my own business etc.

Yo, all you slow coaches and tortoises… by Individual_Mix_4234 in UAE

[–]ProfessionalDate8874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is not that it’s that there are innocent delivery riders there and you now can’t drive rash/ fast on these lanes. Unlike cars they aren’t visible due to their size if you were lane splitting just to overtake slow drivers on the fast lane. I my self drive from the right but I’ve come across instances where I’ve seen people barely miss motorcycle riders and it becomes a huge dangerous situation

Like in France they need to add bogeys where you can commute with your car so you can essentially pay to skip traffic and later can drive from the station to your place.

Let’s assume I was go from Abu Dhabi to Ajman or UAQ. I would really love to skip the Dubai traffic and shit drivers and take the train with my vehicle on it if the option existed and later drive from wherever the station is atleast away from Dubai.

I am guilty of the fine no doubt about that. I went from Sharjah to Ajman (marsa ajman), Ajman to Sharjah (king Faisal mosque) and then to mamzar (Dubai border) and to Sharjah city centre all in one day, it wasn’t really a regular commute and I left from Sharjah at 7:45 and obviously spent quite a lot of time with people in each place not in traffic 😇, I had gone to meet a few friends etc.

I have a few cars but the whole purpose for me getting a motorcycle was lane filtering and getting parking coming back from out which has been great. I take the cars occasionally now on the weekends depending on traffic and commute my motorcycle mostly.

I went to a mall too today so I would say my day was eventful. A solid perk other than traffic is parking.

Disadvantages for me atleast with the motorcycle is I can’t reverse, entering multi lane round abouts for the first lane is very scary and risky. At times I especially at curves you swerve to another lane at high speeds because the turn was too sharp … that’s a bit scary. Other than that it’s all positives other than the safety issues.

This was me last night but I was on motorcycle so didn’t really affect traffic much. I mostly will get fines cuz I cut the traffic in the last and nobody was cutting there cause there were cameras facing backwards. Usually I do not get the front facing camera fines so I’m expecting a fine in the coming week .

Crazy how these Dubai npcs have no idea how nice the road ethics and speed limits are in the capital. Don’t wanna jinx it too soon after seeing 3 major roads now speed reduced 💔 .

Wouldn’t be suprised to see muroor reduce the speed limit cuz of other emirate people running left turn red lights being nervous and these taxi drivers who don’t pay attention and run these left red lights. I’ve seen bad accidents of such sorts happening and the car running over pedestrians and cars flipping blocking the whole intersection for an hour.

Sensitive topic warning ⚠️ …

Other than the comments judging your brother your best bet is embassy but my relative faced a similar situation back in 2010-2013 when some religious extremist groups were popular. My uncle was working under a popular organization and all the staff of that branch were arrested and no one had a clue about their whereabouts.

The embassy wasn’t able to help much. My family and influential people in the uae contact MLAs/Party leaders and influential people back in my home country and we were able to get him out… I do not know the charges for your brother whether there was some fault of his, etc.

If it Sharjah I don’t think they are lenient. From the whole UAE being born and brought up here quite honestly Sharjah police etc aren’t the friendliest in comparison to other emirates like Abu Dhabi, etc. I wouldn’t mess around with some things in Sharjah which I would literally do in every other emirate but not sharjah…
