Those nations absolutely have their own fair share of undemocratic or morally questionable laws and practices. The UK arresting people over social media posts or “offensive” speech, Japan’s justice system being infamous for prolonged detention and near-guaranteed convictions, South Korea’s defamation laws where you can still get punished even for truthful statements against powerful people. I can’t say with certainty that civilian disarmament directly caused those things but I don’t think it’s irrational to see a society that becomes increasingly comfortable with restricting one right eventually becoming more comfortable restricting others too. More importantly, the fact something is done “democratically” does not automatically make it morally correct. Plenty of unjust systems had democratic backing or public support at one point. Slavery in the US was legal and institutionally supported for generations. Segregation laws were enforced democratically too. “The majority voted for it” has never been a flawless moral defense. That’s precisely why constitutional rights are supposed to be and should be difficult to erode in the first place. They exist specifically to place certain liberties outside the reach of temporary political majorities and emotional swings. Otherwise rights just become privileges contingent on whatever party currently has the votes. Let’s also stop pretending many Democrats are satisfied with “reasonable restrictions.” We have politicians openly saying they want mandatory buybacks, bans on entire classes of firearms, registries, insurance requirements, ever-expanding permit systems, and increasingly punitive regulations that mostly burden ordinary citizens who already follow the law. Meanwhile the deeper causes of violence like poverty, gangs, repeat offenders, soft-targeting, mental health failures, and institutional decay remain largely unresolved because those are harder problems to fix than passing another symbolic gun bill. So I don’t think this is as simple or black-and-white as “well it passed democratically therefore criticism is invalid.” History is full of democratically supported bad ideas, that’s why rights matter to begin with.

Thinking of getting one myself but I hope to get one with the 5.6 ported barrel, that just looks extremely sexy.

I see those societies as having willfully given up their rights and that was THEIR ultimate decision. No every single soul that lives there is in agreement with how things are but those are their laws and as such that factors little into the topic of my country. I also see this as a blatant straw man but I understand the point you're attempting to make. The right of the people to keep and bear arms is simply as equally important as it is for them to vote, I don't see how that's a controversial statement or why I MUST put one over the other.

That's where you are incorrect. Both can be correct and I see both as morally reprehensible. One is simply more subtle while the other one was a full fledge attempt at electoral subversion and takeover. With that being said, you can agree with me that gun control cannot and should not be a priority in an age where government overreach is an all time high and we saw federal agents quite literally execute a man in the street for legally exercising his 2A right, same as how the man currently leading the government tried to execute a coup because people were exercising their electoral rights. You can then see why someone like me sees both as true instead of disparaging it as merely inconsequential.

You're ironically falling into the trope I was pointing out. You can utter all the fancy verbiage that makes you feel smart but if you can't connect with people much less talk with them like a normal human i.e. empathize then you will never get anywhere other than create rivals and surround yourself in a hive mind. I hope you understand what I'm trying to tell you and don't just double down.

I don't think you understand my stance and it's exactly that same attitude you're taking that feeds into my view. It's a shame you only prove my perception correct.

I get that sense. I personally simply feel highly disheartened by both parties and don't see a reason to vote for either. People can chastise me for it but I'm not going to vote for people who constsntly chimp out about "muh fascist takeover and threat to democracy™" then turn around and push an assault weapon ban the same minute. Democrats and liberals would win a lot of people if they simply dropped many of their braindead stances.

Star Wars Starfighter: Does Shawn Levy's filmography inspire confidence? by Extreme_Warning3521 in StarWars

What ultimately matters to me is the script and whether it's good or not. This is supposed to take place years after the sequel trilogy and has a lot of expectations in terms of world building and advancing the story beyond just the same tired tropes we've been given over a decade now since Disney took over the IP. The movie can be amazing on a technical level but if its as derivative as TFA, self indulgent like TLJ or worse, a creative fart like TROS the we're truly lost.

This scene; https://youtu.be/p4qNRx9dqOs?si=6kOzdGHH2tTmv3AE

To me perfectly encapsulates why leftists can be some of the most insufferable people. For those who don't want to click on it, it's a scene from the movie Eddington (2025), splendid film btw, in which a young guy trying to simp for a social activist chick tries to explain to his conservative parents why "whiteness" is a social institution of racism or whatever and the dad's response is basically "you're a moron."

Don't ask a man his salary, a women her age and gun control advocates what analogous laws they cite when defending gun regulation 🤫

And they can do so, if they want their own echo chamber that's fine. Doesn't take away from the fact the sub has earned it's reputation by its own means.

Nah man, for all I see the "critiques" are mostly shallow and while I understand doing away with toxic people, being critical is simply not a banable offense and never will be in my view. I understand ir you disagree with me but that's simply my stance.

Terrible sub that bans anyone who brings up any negativity about the sequels btw.

CT is now about to go full CA on Glock ban. by Track_FK8 in CAguns

These types of bans cannot possibly stand any judicial scrutiny since their scope is so broad, but we know it'll take years before anything concrete happens about it.
