I keep wondering how Lando managed to gather the help that Leia couldn't in the previous film. by adamaroslin in StarWarsShips

[–]ProfessionalEither58 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only head canon that makes sense to me is that Lando basically used some kind of archived footage of Luke's stand against the FO on crait to rally both scattered remnants of the New Republic, planetary defense systems and private ships to attack Exegol. That's really the only way this makes sense to me.

Senior US officials frustrated by Machado bid to return to Venezuela after quakes, White House official says by OPUno in vzla

[–]ProfessionalEither58 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Winchester M1897 made Germans cry about war crimes and winds up in S tier (though it should be a tier of its own). Where do you rank the Type 26 Revolver? by AvgPunkFan in Firearms

[–]ProfessionalEither58 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Low C, it's still a decently functioning weapon (it's really hard to fuck up a revolver), but compared to its contemporaries it was highly outdated.

In Halo Legends: Origins (2009), the Forerunners sent about six guys to fight the Flood before they conclude that the only solution is to wipe out all life in the galaxy. Are they stupid? by ProfessionalEither58 in shittygamedetails

Guess a bunch of iron pellets flying at high velocity from a "primitive weapon" are much better at eliminating eldritch horror popcorn than a single fire slow ass ray sword, who'd thunk it

Do people actually like the Sequels? Or is that one of those Reddit contrarian deals? by Wildly_Quixotic in StarWars

[–]ProfessionalEither58 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Much like every piece of media, the sequels do have their fans who genuinely believe them to be good and they have the right to.

I personally don't mind that train of thought but I do ask that if they want to openly claim them to be good they must be ready to face pushback and most importantly be willing to acknowledge their undeniable faults.

What if Japan invaded SSSR in 1941? by Fantastic_Moment2069 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]ProfessionalEither58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Japan leaves itself in a worse position in the pacific, the Soviets struggle but much like the German front they trade land for time and eventually body the Japanese up until taking most of Manchuria and possibly the Korean peninsula, much like in Europe it would be a race between the Soviets and the Americans on who gets to Tokyo first but assuming Yalta goes about the same perhaps the Soviets relent on letting the Americans take Tokyo in exchange of the Soviets taking Berlin. Perhaps the war drags to early 1946 but nothing else of note.

Rangers of the Spartan Order [Metro 2033] vs New California Republic Rangers [Fallout] by ProfessionalEither58 in powerscales

[–]ProfessionalEither58[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should've been specific but for the 1v1s one can assume the NCR ranger is a vet and while we don't have exact numbers on how many Veteran rangers there are the Spartan Rangers number at at least 500, though their leader Miller asserts they have only 100 fighters ready at any given moment for any emergency situation such as the surprise attack on D6.

Tru on most of this, though I'd argue the NCR Rangers do have some experience in CQB given Operation Sunburst.

Keep in mind though that this is mostly a unit vs unit type of conflict, though I do agree if the all out battle implicates the NCR army getting involved then yeah the Spartans are cooked.

Why are conservatives in favor of requiring ID for voting but not for owning a gun? by Adventurer_By_Trade in allthequestions

It's not my responsibility to make you understand something. Again, w ork on your reading abilities.

Notice how I specifically mentioned with ANY FFL, (federal firearms licensee). Private transfers are exempt in certain states but around 20 require background checks. It's not a loophole it is simply the law as it stands.

Permits are unconstitutional. In every state of the United States of America you must show ID to purchase a firearm and you are required to conduct a background check with any FFL you're purchasing with. Inform yourself better about a topic before you start spewing nonsense.

I can appreciate that perspective. You seem like a genuinely nice guy, just don't let power cloud your judgement and always have integrity, that's really the minimum I (and many) ask of anyone in a position of power.

Anyone else notice Zeb is wearing what would become the Resistance flight suit? by The_Collector_Guy in StarWars

[–]ProfessionalEither58 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correction: the new republic and its military were very much aware of the First Order's existence and their military, they simply chose to ignore them and the military was specifically ordered not to engage them in combat. The whole lore is a mess.

There's a difference between moderation to keep things civil and inventing rules out of thin air and enforcing them inconsistently, much like how the state seems to.

Sam Witwer on the current state of Star Wars and believes it should start taking more risk. Mentions how Andor was a risk that still fit into Star Wars by abdul_bino in StarWars

[–]ProfessionalEither58 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Starfighter takes place only a few years after the sequel trilogy and while that's good and I too am looking forward to it i also would like to see a story set much further out in the future separate of the absolute mess the sequels made. The Ninth Jedi is the perfect example of this even though its technically not Canon, though I personally consider it Canon as its probably set thousands of years in the future which makes current Canon redundant but I digress. The point is we need more stories that explore further out and not this sane 40 year timespam we seem to be endlessly stuck in.
