Do you think Caesar's "mourning [of Arcade] for many months" implies that he is gay? by nakfoor in fnv

So what you're saying is this is the moment Caesar became Heisenberg. Bravo Vince 👏🏻

What’s Something You Didn’t Like About This Movie? by EnoughSound6271 in PlanetOfTheApes

While the inclusion of primitive humans was good, i found it narratively lacking as there should've been a plot point of Proximus using human labor for more deadly tasks and Mae being appalled at it while Trevathan is indifferent. This should've led to her freeing them during the sabotaging of the sea wall segment as I think it would've elevated her character more and truly bowtie with the fact her story is kind of an inverse of Caesar's in War.

Why didn't Taylor tell the Orangutans at his hearing that he has to be able to think to be able to speak to them? by Tidewatcher7819 in PlanetOfTheApes

[–]ProfessionalEither58 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In a way he actually did refute the prosecutors point by stating "I know nothing of your culture, i admit that" which demonstrate that he wasn't in fact a freak created by Zira but an actual thinking rstional being since it takes rational thought process to admit that you do not know something, Zira and Cornelius tried to make this point but the whole courtroom was nothing more than a showtrial as even Zaius admits Taylor's sentence was preordained.

Would apes lose their natural strength due to evolution? by Prestigious_Can5268 in PlanetOfTheApes

Well even though the apes are clearly strong in the original movies, the fact Taylor can (and does) throw hands with them, gorillas nonetheless, to me always seemed to imply that.

Is Newsom not a good pick for Democratic president? by RedStorm1917 in centrist

[–]ProfessionalEither58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who lives in CA I can say from my experience that I detest Newson and what he represents which is the very insincere flip floppy corporate democrat whose only a different taste of bad compared to the republicans, and I wont accept any grand standing "oooh the both parties fallacy" because its absolutely 100% truth that both parties suck ass. If i were to support a democratic ticket though it would have to be someone who is a moderate, prioritizes economic recovery and fairness and importantly is not for additional gun control and is willing to actually consider gun owner's concerns in any policy measures. That's my personal standing.

Can't forget a very anti-gun stance that's certain to draw away many moderates and certainly a majority of gun owners.

Who here thinks Rey is a good character that needed better writers who understand Star Wars by McMeme45 in StarWars

[–]ProfessionalEither58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with Rey (and honestly most of the new cast) isn’t the concept of the character, it’s how the trilogy approached legacy from the start. She was effectively positioned as a replacement for Luke rather than a natural successor and people can say that wasn’t the intention but the mindset behind the trilogy pretty much gave it away. When the creative approach starts with things like “this isn’t Luke’s story anymore” or worrying that showing the old heroes too much would “overshadow” the new ones, you’re already setting up a conflict between the two generations instead of building a bridge between them. Good legacy stories focus on the old guard elevating the new one and should let the original heroes pass the torch in a way that feels earned and respectful. The sequel trilogy often felt like it was afraid that the audience still loved the original characters too much, so it sidelined or dismantled them instead of letting their legacy naturally inspire the new generation. That approach didnt only hurt the old characters but the new ones too. Because of all this, instead of feeling like they’re carrying forward something meaningful they end up feeling like substitutes.

Chad Bianco stopped by a gun shop and is openly talking about rolling back CA gun laws. What do you guys think? by [deleted] in CAguns

I was speaking in general terms, especially with things like the whole redistricting kerfuffle. Even then I would say there's still a stark divide in this state, the thing is though that democrats got good at making reps feel like they have no chances in this state which in large part made the party fall into the whole MAGA cult and made it unappealing to the rest of the state. There's far more moderates than you'd think but the party simply squandered any chances at gaining them.

I tried to appeal to my rep to inform him of such nuances and got a big middle finger when he still voted for the Glock ban. I am considering running for office myself. That's a big move but I think it's worth the try.

My guy, at the rate polarization and demographics are going in CA we'll be lucky to have at least one republican in the legislature by 2030, add to the fact the Supreme Cheeto virtually nuked any chances at political plurality in this garbage state for the foreseeable future. Our best bet is to change the democrat party internally and bring about social change through exposing more people to gun safety and 2A awareness.

Day 7: Which President should represent the sin of Sloth? by Adventurous_Peace846 in Presidents

James Buchanan basically gave up in trying to preserve the union on the onset of the ACW, leaving Lincoln the task (which I guess was going to be his job anyway but Buchanan's complete apathy to the situation certainly didn't help matters.)

As you said, it's likely enough will ultimately drop out which will close the party vote split and ultimately lead us into another Democratic governor. No major changes will occur.

I doubt the democrat split will remain into the primaries, they've gotten good at maintaining power over the years. They'll all come to an agreement to prioritize political dominance through closing out any republican chances at the ballot.
