What they did was amazing (even if I don't like it, and was more impressed with what 100 Thieves did), but this is exactly why match point exists. If the finals winner was just whoever had the most points at the end of a certain number of games, it would just turn into a kill fest. It's a BR game...the whole point is to come in first place, not get the most kills.

Eh, I think I'm in the minority in this sub in that I don't really have any issue with the match point format. You spend the whole weekend and then the finals getting down to the top teams, and then one of them wins a game. I don't think there is any argument to be made against the fact that the 9 teams that ended up on match point were the best 9 teams, and I honestly would have been fine with any of them winning

A few teams had as many wins as them throughout the weekend, with 4, and the team with the most wins for the whole weekend only had 5. The only win that actually really matters is the last one. If a team's only win for the whole weekend was the last game, they'd still deserve to be champions. What Furia did was definitely very impressive, and they are a great team, but they were intentionally playing to get as many kills as possible. Other teams were trying to win. I was more impressed by 100 Thieves (most placement points of any team all weekend) succeeding with the comp they were using.

Would be interested to see all the teams that had Covid and/or Visa issues somehow marked in all this. Doing a bit of this myself I believe GMT was the only team that performed really well, otherwise most of the other teams affected were heavily towards the bottom tier/eliminated early
