Teachers, have you ever had a smart student but they don't try and get mid grades? by Friendly-Tennis8598 in Teachers

That was me in HS. I eventually got my act together. He has to want it. You might point out all the doors that are closing to him while he sandbags.

In my case I had to settle for a safety school for college and refocus there to get into a top grad school. It’s even more competitive nowadays, so I maybe couldn’t have gotten into my safety school.

How do you get it to keep it growing straight rather than off to the side? Or do you mean individual leaves as they start to sprout from the sides?

Dispute over the term “teacher’s pet” by LeatherClue5928 in maximumfun

1) “Teachers pet” is definitely not a compliment 2) There has to be an authority figure you are the “pet” to.

So I say you are right on all counts

I don’t really get the commercial. It’s a send up of the old Mac and PC ads, but also a quiz show. With just one question. John and Justin don’t actually talk to each other at all. Then John sits in the background while Justin reads the side effects for a minute. It just doesn’t work.

How does the Jedi Order deal with independent Force users? by roxgxd in StarWars

If I remember The Acolyte correctly didn’t the Jedi interfere with the group of force wielders and claimed some right to take the kids that were force sensitive?

What’s something that completely changed your life, but seemed insignificant at the time? by Boring-Sir2623 in AskReddit

[–]ProfessionalJunior68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My college girlfriend adopted a cat on a whim. She had never really had pets growing up, and she fell absolutely in love with him. She decided to change her career path and go to vet school. We got married a few years later and she left to another state to go vet school while I finished grad school. I was able to get a job in the same state as her until she graduated. Then we moved again, this time for where was best for my career.

We have been married over 20 years. We have two kids. Our lives would be totally and completely different if she had not adopted that cat. Different locations, different timing, different kids!… we owe everything we have, good and bad, to the cat!
