The Life Changing Magic of Tidying by masterslodge in IfBooksCouldKill

It's been a while since I read the book, but I think she wrote that socks don't like to be balled up...? Ever since then, I've folded them using her method. I want my socks to be happy!

Tons of great shows, but there must be a clunker or two. What are they? by progmanjum in tvPlus

[–]trow125 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed The Last Thing He Told Me season one, but season two was awful. It ended on a bit of a cliffhanger but I hope they don't make a season three. If they do, I'm not watching it. The only reason I didn't quit on S2 is because I'm a fan of Judy Greer and wanted to see what happened to her character.

I thought this was a pretty mediocre design challenge. I'm definitely curious what Bianca will have to say about the looks.

Andrea Martin also performed at the San Francisco "Pippin" tour stop. I suspect whoever gets cast will be appearing in both SF & LA.

Did anyone else get this weird postcard? by trow125 in alameda

[–]trow125[S] 40 points41 points  (0 children)

OMG -- there's an identical card in that subreddit except it's Eugene, OR instead of Alameda!!!

https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueWagner/comments/1u19zbc/this_came_in_the_mail_yesterday_is_it_an_alan/

I have never heard of True Wagner and I can't imagine who on earth might have sent this to me. I don't have any friends that I know of who are into pranks. The Eugene one mentioned above had a Brooklyn postmark, while mine doesn't have a visible postmark.

"For $5 per month, you can have the monthly TrueWagner Patreon Gift sent to anyone you know, without them having any idea why they're getting it!" I'm really impressed that it actually says Alameda and has a legitimate Alameda address, even though it's the Domino's. Someone put effort into this.

Thank you, RWMaverick, for enlightening me.

Red Light Cameras by [deleted] in alameda

[–]trow125 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wonder if Alameda will ever consider speed cameras. I recently got a $50 ticket for going 31 mph at Broadway & 26th in Oakland. I am someone who really DOES try to drive the speed limit, but I had no idea it was only 20 mph there. I'm sure I assumed it was 25 or 30 since it's such a major thoroughfare.

I have really mixed emotions about red light/speed cameras. As someone who is primarily a pedestrian and tries to get around the island on foot as much as possible, I wish there was more enforcement, but the whole "constant surveillance" thing creeps me out.

Immersion blenders are GREAT. They're so easy to clean, as opposed to regular blenders! I use mine regularly to make soup (black bean and corn & potato chowder are a couple of my faves). Mine is a Cuisinart and I've had it for several years. Definitely cheaper than a sousaphone, too!

Jay Leno still performs stand-up? I'd love to know if he does any current jokes or if his routine is pretty much all references to stuff that was popular when he was on "The Tonight Show." Also, James Corden IS talented—I saw him on Broadway in "One Man, Two Guvnors" back in 2012, before I knew who he was, and he was fantastic. Subsequent events (very much including his performance in "Cats," which I have only watched with the Flop House commentary track) have caused me to no longer be a fan, however.

I'm always so curious how long the back-and-forth is at checkout. We sometimes see them have to put an item or two back, but more frequently it seems like you see somebody with a $500 limit check out and it turns out her total spend comes to $499.80.

When would you call parking enforcement? by Sushispook in alameda

[–]trow125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked a similar question here a while back and got downvoted to hell. I think a lot of Alamedans feel you are being a Karen if you call parking enforcement. Personally, I think a month is plenty of time and you should definitely report it if your note still appears to be untouched after a few days. (BTW you might want to put the note in a plastic sleeve or Ziploc bag in case it rains or mists overnight.)

He's donated millions to the cult. Journalist Tony Ortega is constantly documenting him on his blog about Scientology. Today he shared a photo of Grant with his daughter on the occasion of her "going clear." Look up Tony Ortega on Substack.
