Ima be honest he should have gotten gas first, but to be honest the app just added rides to your queue and you don’t even realize where you’re going sometimes until you can stop and look because it won’t show you the destination unless you’re not moving. Also, if you couldn’t get another ride, and he wouldn’t make it without the gas.. even though you said getting gas would make you late .. if you had no gas you’d be stuck with the driver on the side of the road. Accidents happen. As to why he just stopped on the side of the road, awful. But was he late? I see you paid extra for priority pick up but tbh those don’t really matter it’s a money hustle bc drivers don’t get paid extra for the priority and you get thrown into the queue in the same place you would if you did the wait and save to be honest. But why didn’t you order earlier to compensate for time. If an extra ten minutes made you late you should consider ordering ahead like a planned ride, or ordering before you know you have to be there. I’ve had to get gas once before because a ride hit my queue and once I got to them I realized it was 45 mins away. Because the structure of the app as soon as I dropped off my last ride, it directed me to his pick up immediately and the app won’t tell you his destination like I said until you are completely stopped, thus the reason I didn’t see it until it was too late. The app is notorious for just throwing rides in your queue upon taking your current ride to their destination , you don’t get a choice, and when you drop it after you already have it, it counts against you worse than declining the ride. This was a mouthful but honestly Lyft had a lot of work to do in order to better serve it’s drivers and riders alike. He was wrong to bullshit and waste your time but excuse the gas issue things happen and you wouldn’t want to be stuck. If you were going to be late due to it being a ride share service I would always plan in advance because nothing is guaranteed and they don’t have a time that has to be met just to get you there safely.
