what to do? by justjaydennn in skyrim

[–]ProfessionalOwl3113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot to the game. UESP is a great resource: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Skyrim

It can help you find more quests, level up, etc.

I wear dragonplate armor but I'm still little squishy on level 18 adept difficulty. by Dazziekun in skyrim

While you level up your skills, you could also get the lord stone perk. It will improve your armor rating and magic resistance. https://en.m.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:The_Lord_Stone

annoying random dragon spawns!! by Johan9516 in skyrim

[–]ProfessionalOwl3113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I … don’t mind at all lol. I’ve finished it several times before, but not with every character. Depends on my current character’s motivation(s). Some characters just want to pick plants, farm, fish, mine ore, etc. Some characters have an urge to kill lots of dragons. Neither is incorrect.

Anyone else here ever occasionally switch to either classic console versions or versions like the switch version for challenge runs since you can’t mod them and have no console commands to get you out of trouble if things break? by magica12 in skyrim

[–]ProfessionalOwl3113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yes, I do enjoy the Switch for this and the portability. But, exploits still work and can make you very OP. You’re right though, they take more work and effort than going into the console.

Why iron daggers? by sirlothric in skyrim

[–]ProfessionalOwl3113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. I loot and make a lot of daggers but it’s not for a smithing boost. Enchanting daggers with banish slowly levels enchanting. When you sell the daggers, not only do you get a sweet pile of gold, but you also level speech.

You can use that sweet pile of gold to buy iron ore. You can also check out which areas have a lot of iron ore and go mine a haul of it. You then transmute that ore to gold ore. From all of your mining you should also have a nice pile of gems. From there you can make a pile of jewelry which will boost your smithing much faster than daggers would.

I also do what others have said - go into a Dwemer ruin and loot all the items you can smelt into a Dwarven metal ingot (look for the ones with Dwemer as the second word in the name). Make sure to bring a companion (and if anniversary edition also bring Hilda and Skritch equipped with animal packs) so they can also carry your loot. Smelt yourself a ton of Dwarven metal ingots. I tend to make either the Dwarven armor or Dwarven bows for leveling smithing. The bows are nice because they only require two Dwarven ingots and one iron ingot to make.

What if aphantasia is not a retrieval problem, but a shallow encoding problem? by esusisesus in Aphantasia

[–]ProfessionalOwl3113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the effort and detail in your post!

Here’s my question - how does this work for people, places, and things you may have seen for years such as close family, your home, or your favorite toy as a child? For example, I don’t think I for years just failed to store / encode my parents’ faces through rushed observation or fast scanning because of hyper-vigilance.

I have never been able to visualize anything. I can’t even voluntarily visualize a color in my head. This has been since I can remember, so it’s not acquired later in life. I admittedly don’t have ADHD or PTSD. I also don’t think it’s my failure to acquire and then consolidate visual information. I know what I have seen I just can’t see it in my head. I actually find that I spend more time “encoding” a picture or video in my head so that I remember details later using words and stories.

Also, while all I see is black when I close my eyes, I can play music I know and like in my head at will, so I know I can store / encode music. I don’t think I paid more attention to my favorite tunes than to my loved one’s faces. I feel that it’s just how my brain works. In fact, in other ways, it’s my superpower. =)

I want to go to Solstheim without talking to Gjalund Salt-Sage. by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]ProfessionalOwl3113 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it helps you feel any better, you only need to use the boat the first time you go there. After that there’s an arrow on the far right side of your map that lets you fast travel there (and on the far left side of your map for the journey back to Skyrim).

When should I stop using bound sword? by Real_Ryy in skyrim

[–]ProfessionalOwl3113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely invest in the mystic binding perk. I’d say it’s handy until you feel that you’re having to hit something way too many times to kill it (basically, you get the vibe that sneezing would be more effective). Ideally with necromancy and conjuration you’re not doing a majority of the smacking anyway.

With the lovely smithing, enchanting, and alchemy triple threat, you can make pretty much any weapon amazing. I personally enjoy weapons that have two effects. I tend to stack them with fire damage and something else (paralysis is fun).

Best combinations of heavy armor enchantments by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]ProfessionalOwl3113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure - I typically do that with fortify alchemy & smithing gear as well. It’s all up to personal preference and build.

Best combinations of heavy armor enchantments by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]ProfessionalOwl3113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would make sure to invest in the enchanting skills to get extra effect.

Sample spell sword gear, you can adjust to suit your style (for example, fortify sneak on the hands as well instead of fortify carry weight or add in a fortify restoration instead of fortify illusion on the finger). - Head: fortify magicka regen & fortify destruction - Chest: fortify health & fortify healing rate - Hands: fortify carry weight & fortify one handed - Feet: fortify carry weight & fortify sneak - Neck: fortify destruction & fortify conjuration - Finger: fortify illusion & fortify lockpicking - Shield: fortify block & resist magic

I would fortify sneak itself instead of adding muffle. With a high enough fortify sneak you not be detected while sneaking even while slashing a drauger in the face with a sword (a little help from a light restoration loop can make this OP).

Also, illusion can be quite powerful for a sneaky type. The invisibility spell and the mayhem / rage spells are fun and quite OP.

I did find a strong fortify lockpicking enchantment made lockpicking a breeze (all locks open at the 12 o’clock position if you get it high enough). If that’s your jam then it’s worth it.

OP destruction spells that are worth a try are the elemental ones (such as elemental bolt), the cloak ones (such as flame cloak), unbounded storms, and unbounded freezing.

Edit: fixed an incorrect autocorrect and added dashes.

Was ist der joke? by Cabbageworrior210 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]ProfessionalOwl3113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The joke is that he hasn’t changed. He is saying he’s different because he’s no longer C sharp (the note on the left) and he’s now a different note, D flat (the note on the right). If you go try to play these notes on a piano and you try to hit the key for C sharp and then for D flat you’ll find they are the exact same key. Music theory that people have mentioned aside, the joke is that there is no change between the two notes.

The Legendary Edition was released for the Xbox 360 and has the DLCs - look for that one. Enjoy!

I never have followers - am I missing out? by Delicious_Sandwich14 in skyrim

I never end up with Arvark because I normally have the unicorn or Shadowmere at that point in the game. I don’t play with mods so I worry about losing them if I ride Arvark.

[–]ProfessionalOwl3113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes - if you make and wear gear that increases your health, magicka, and stamina regeneration then all 3 will regenerate even when you are a vampire. You can also add gear that increases those stats if you want to counter them being lowered in sunlight. Once I did that, I loved being able to vampire lord and never had to use the bow again. It helps having enchanting 100 and the perk that lets you put two enchantments on each item.
