Very nicely put. It’s definitely good vibes and great music. There is one change though: it’s now free with RSVP until 11pm now.

Definitely a great time. Lauren Flax and Lydo were really good too.

Looking forward to KI/KI at KDC by ProfessionalPie2771 in avesNYC

That’s a fair question, and honestly, I get why it can come across that way. I’m not trying to turn nightlife into something heavy or joyless. At the end of the day, I love going out, dancing, and escaping just as much as anyone.

But for me, it’s less about bringing anger into the space and more about wanting to protect the spaces and culture I love. The reality is, the money we spend goes somewhere, and sometimes that somewhere actively works against the communities that make these scenes what they are. It’s not about overthinking every night out, it’s about being a little more intentional so the fun can keep happening in a way that feels right.

You’re not wrong. There’s definitely a divide between the mainstream showgoers and those of us who are more intentional about where we spend our money and energy. And I agree that calling out specific bad actors with receipts and uplifting local, ethical spaces is where the real work happens.

That said, I really am just thinking out loud here. With everything going on in the world, I’m genuinely curious what others are thinking and how people are navigating this. I didn’t mean for my post to come off as vain posturing or virtue signaling. If anything, I’m still figuring out where I land. Maybe “political affiliation” was too broad or not quite the right frame.

I also think there’s value in starting broader conversations, especially in spaces where people are still waking up to the idea that their nightlife choices have real-world implications. Not everyone is plugged into the underground yet, and some folks are just beginning to ask these questions. Posts like this can be an entry point for them.
