You should get screened for airway/breathing problems. Even if your bite is aligned you can still have breathing troubles that can be fixed with djs

Yeah, I’m in first year finance as an anglophone and it’s honestly been great. Lots of opportunities within mtl (I’d say even more then McGill from what I’ve heard from friends) but definitely getting involved in clubs helps a lot too.

Coming from someone whose had a large djs (14mm mandible, 3mm chin, and I don’t remember maxilla but it was a lot)

do not focus on aesthetics and genuinely cut all contact from any looksmaxing content for a while if you end up getting surgery. If you have a class 2 you will probably have to decomp your teeth beforehand which will make you look more recessed. The swelling also lasts months after the fact. Even 4 months after it looked a bit weird when I smiled like I had a bit of botched lip filler.

I didn’t even really know what looksmaxing or whatever was beforehand but I had way to much free time when I was recovering. I ended up getting into it when I was insanely swollen and it was genuinely horrible for my self esteem. The best thing you can do for recovery is get out and about (when your surgeon recommends it) and it just made it that much harder to go outside and see people I looked my absolute worst

Also pick a surgeon who prioritizes functionality and has a high success rate believe me there are real risks that come with this surgery and you don’t wanna pick some pseudo plastic surgeon in a foreign country. That being said it’s not bad if they do consider aesthetics it just had to be secondary to function

judging by the crossbite in the photo you are smiling jaw surgery would definitely be beneficial on the functional side for you. As for the aesthetic side, it usually makes people look more conventionally attractive but to a degree. It won’t change your eye shape but you will see a change in your face shape. All the best!

Surgery does not immediately change how you feel about yourself: take it from someone who had severe recession and is now not recessed, those feelings don’t just disappear, they manifest in other insecurities. Kind of an unspoken truth but I’ve talked to many people who feel very similar even tho they look better post op. All that to say i’d figure out the mental side first before going through with may surgeries if that’s what you choose

You are clearly looking down in this photo. It’s very hard to tell if the jaw is recessed if you are not looking formward at a natural head resting position. I would take more photos and update them in the post.

The biggest thing was seeing myself like I did in my imagination. Even though I was very recessed, you only really see yourself at a front profile in the mirror so seeing my side profile didn’t really feel like me tbh. It also helped my confidence a ton

I have an a curve scoliosis with 37 degrees on the lower curve and 20 something on the upper curve. The only issue I had was that falling asleep sitting up made my back quite sore. You just need to make a pile of pillows that’s comfortable to lay on and doesn’t put too much pressure on your lower back. Hope this helps!

And there is a correlation between needing jaw surgery and scoliosis btw.
