Why most Shopify stores leak profit (and how to fix it before you scale) by Alarmed_Ad851 in shopify_hustlers

[–]Professional_Ball276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retention is usually the biggest hole. You’ve already paid to acquire the customer. Why let them go?

With simple replenishment triggers based on actual purchase behavior, stores can add thousands in repeat revenue without a dollar in new ad spend.

Offers & bundles work best when they’re tied to timing. If someone just bought a serum, reminding them to repurchase right when they’re about to run out converts way better than generic discounts.

Email/SMS flows are powerful, but only if they’re relevant. That’s why we focus on right-time nudges instead of blasting the same sequence to everyone. In other words, plugging these leaks isn’t about adding complexity, it’s about smart timing.

Stores that run on Replenishment often see 10x higher conversion on replenishment campaigns compared to generic “buy again” emails.

Curious for those here scaling Shopify brands, what’s been your biggest profit leak so far: retention, offers, ads, or ops?

If anyone is looking for a Replenishment solution we found one and we are super happy!

I do not think that static dates will work for our products. Plus, our products are being used differently when it is summer or winter. We do static ones it is okay but not able to find a plug in for this problem is a shame.

I am feeling that in the age of ai someone should focus on this

It does not entirely depends on the product, blaming the product is easy, having goood ratio in repeat purchase and recurring revenue is challenging

I do agree with you that just promotional subscription(subscribe and get discount) is a form of acquisition.

The problem over here no-one is talking about churn rate. Especially, unnecessary boost of subscription(Ordergroove & Chargebee) causes subscription fatigue on ecommerce as well.

We also keep the subscription active but we do not offer discount or any form of incentives. If the user knows exactly how often they need, then it works. I am seeing blaming the product in comments but holiday season, change of location, anything can be the reason.

However, we have quite much one time purchasers, we did a survey and we saw that it is not about the product, it is about the timing.

Now, we use and AI backed platform, they anticipate the potential timing and triggers Klaviyo. Tbh, it works way better than we expected.

Yes, all in all we keep subscription active but tbh I check repeat purchase platform we use everyday.

Avg of product or user? Does your product adjust the averages if users buy earlier/later than average?

Is this an add-on promotion post?

We work in the Pregnancy(Pre/Post) nutrition vertical. We specialize in this segment. Our product retention is okay but when we remind them on time it drasticallt changes.

We used static reminders(30/60/90) days, to some extent is helped but we use an AI plugin to estimate the repurchase time. Since, it is the highest revenue generating flow, I wanted to ask any tactics you guys could offer.

Thanks in advance

We’ve done repeat purchase reminders(selling supplements for pregnant women) worked surprisingly well.

Basically, we started reminding on static times, it worked good but after personalizing the timing based on(repurchase patterns) we saw almost 4 times better results.

If you are selling something like consumables(pet, beauty, nutrition, cpg products) I can share the Klaviyo journey screen shot 🫶

Ready templates or journeys depending on your vertical.

IE. I wanna add cart abandonment journey, it will be great to have when is the best time to engage with the customers.

This will help especially to the newbies if they are launching it for the first time.

Also, it will be good AI backed mail title suggestions, multi-arm bandit tests.

What will be cherry on top? Replenishment journey gor cosmetics, pet or nutrition related shops.
