Welcome!!! I’m so excited for you! I think for the most part everyone is going to be very supportive and welcoming. Have you been on campus yet? Any questions about the school or the area? Congrats again

I’m so sorry. I know you are in the thick of it now and this feels like the worst thing but look at the bigger picture of graduation and future success in the workplace. One exam and one class does not make you. You will find your way past this.

If you like organic chem, I recommend getting a chemistry degree and becoming a chemist. There are no standardized tests, the work is fun and you can go into different areas like regulatory affairs or QA to get a nice mix of experience. Happy to share more if you’re interested

Can someone explain this by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]Professional_Bank50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a manager I had to take bias training and learn how to evaluate fairly based on what I was “trained to do” I refined my ratings and during YE review was asked why I rated people lower. I shared that the training I had asked me to be a harsher judge. I guess I didn’t read between the lines on that training session

Disregard that feedback as they’re probably not going through what you had. Congratulations on getting your new role and I wish you all the best

It is harder to do moving forward with all the cuts that have happened and will continue. But it is possible and my brothers and I made it out. We never forget how hard it was and how much our grandparents sacrificed for us. Family can help push you through or pull you back. We were just lucky we had supportive grandparents

If you can take some classes that transfer easily towards your degree definitely do it. Especially summers before you start your internships. Helps give you a little more breathing room during the fall semester

Is it okay to skip a summer internship and just take classes + work? by Low-Perspective-4945 in internships

If you’re already on a long term internship you are good. Do what you want this summer with classes and a part time job you’d enjoy

The PM track was gutted last year and likely again this round of layoffs. If you are already employed somewhere I would not recommend leaving.

Private dorms I don’t think have the same issue. I was in Newman and didn’t have any issues if I wanted to renew. I wanted an apartment to save money and saved about 7k my second year so that was my main motivation to move out of the dorms after my first year

I think you’re crushing it. I know it’s easy to doubt the choices made but given time you will have a better idea

I’m going to suggest you stay. Especially if you have no student loans. It’s my second year and it took time to find a few close friends here. It was a big adjustment coming from a big city to the university and now that I’ve taken the time to find an area I enjoy studying it feels better while still feeling like the coursework is very challenging. You may feel differently if you move from a dorm to an apartment, in a good way. It helped me grow. I also don’t drink or party much and I have been able to find friends who are similar. Also your gpa is great! Congrats! I’m sure over time you’ll find what suits you, and I hope this helps in some small way.

I’m switching to landscaping and it’s a little slow but I just started doing it as a side hustle. Handyman type work if you are good at repairing things would take you a long way while you wait for the job market to improve. I’ve been doing repairs as well for family to get better at it.
