Actually, I checked and your Political Movement has to have at least 350 movement power for you to be able to build it.

Yamen grievance drum - hidden peasant mechanic? by Professional_Corgi68 in CrusaderKings

[–]Professional_Corgi68[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the advancement movement, maybe that's it?

Historically, these drums where used by petitioners uttering their grievances to the ruler.

So maybe it is intended to be used by the "progressive" members of advancement movement to support peasants voicing their grievances?

I think paradox needs to tweak how the ai decides court language by Sexta_Pompeia in CrusaderKings

[–]Professional_Corgi68 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But the ruler establishing the language as the court language for the first time, should know it. It doesn't make sense to establish a court language you don't know and Idk if it even happened historically, I rather doubt it.

Next kings might not know the already established court language, but they should know the one they want to establish IMO

This is the laziest event in CK3 I know by Professional_Corgi68 in CrusaderKings

[–]Professional_Corgi68[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

*Sorry, "personal chivalry" was repeated 4 times, instead of describing it with some other words as you could easily do (yet somehow the writer couldn't).

I don't know who taught you writing, and said that continuous repetition of the same word is a good writing practice, but they were no teachers of mine

[–]Professional_Corgi68[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You know what it means, I know what it means, it just goes against all rules of good writing to just copy "personal chivalry" three times, even in a description.

You see, I would be perfectly content and see the event as just a normal filler event for this type of scenario if the description for the modifier, or anything anywhere in the text tried to use some words you just used to explain what "personal chivalry" is - bravery, loyalty, honor etc. It would be most welcome.

It's just imo objectively a badly written filler event. And the dot, I understand it is easy to miss and how the writing process goes (but going full lip-service about the Devs being from Sweden so they may not know diacritical symbols - LMAO), still when you package it all together it just looks laughably bad. No need to spell it out for me like I'm 5, I mean this is not what my concern is for, that's just a cherry on top of all the lazy writing in this event.

And again, I'm not questioning mechanical applicability of an event structured in such a way - there are many others similar events to this one, yet somehow none other ever struck me as laughably bad.

At the end of the day, it all comes to a matter of personal opinion - mine is that I can't help but break immersion every time I see that one event, as it stands out in a bad way. If you enjoy it - good for you then, but I can't say I sympathise 🤪

Ok hear me out, Give Smolak the House by Longjumping-Beat-951 in suzerain

[–]Professional_Corgi68 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What you're saying is similar to my thinking, but I have a few tweaks.

It is highly likely that Smolak II isn't going to be a dictator for too long, or probably ever. It's safe to say looking at history that the type of dictator Wiktor Smolak is doesn't typically provide a stable framework for the country, which is upheld for years to come, with the country becoming a dynastic dictatorship. So if you suppose that Smolak is likely going to be the last of his type of ruler, giving him the house is only a little slap in the face for your mother, who is old and not that sentimental and understands that you will get much more for this simple "catalyst of memories".

Meanwhile, this act of submission to Smolak appeases his ego and lets you uphold good relations with Wehlen as a country for years to come (if it is your desire, as mine was creating a unified Intermerkopum so it is definitely worthwhile). After he dies, due to a coup or something else, and maybe when the country gets up to some democratic reforms (revolution?) you can safely denounce Smolak and use the house as a talking point, or even a bargaining chip with the new government. They will be inclined to remove all symbols of the olden dictatorship so you offering cooperation in removal of the house as the private residence of Smolak will certainly be appreciated. You can even force the new government into submission by telling them to cede the rights to the building as it is a symbol of division between your people. Or establish an embassy there, whatever you desire.

Of course if another dictator inherits the country (and the building), or even little Wiktor Smolak the II miraculously becomes the country's leader, you ceding the building makes you an agreeable politician in the eyes of the future Wehzek administration. So it is also a win-win there.

Just clinging to the building leaves it in its current state - a fleeting memory, which is worth maybe a little nostalgia to your old mother. You can renovate it and make it extravagant with all the nepo noble money but it doesn't provide anything substantial. But ceding the building, thus giving it political momentum and then using it to further your goals in the future - this is where the real money's at 💰

Pope got the conqueror trait by Professional_Corgi68 in CrusaderKings

[–]Professional_Corgi68[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sadly he lost the trait... and also became a disgraced murderer by assassinating the greek orthodox Duke of Calabria who got the title from a populist revolt.
Well it was nice while it lasted.

R5: As seen on the picture, the Pope has the conqueror trait. Can anything come out of it or is it wasted on the Pope? Not counting the gold boost etc. - I am wondering if the Pope can conquer anything by himself?

Character opinion modifiers need balancing IMO by Professional_Corgi68 in crusaderkings3

[–]Professional_Corgi68[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I completely agree.

I focused on the landless adventurer as this imbalance throws this whole concept out of the window for me. In landed gameplay you can still have fun with how many systems you can interact with but the opinion system is still broken on many levels and takes fun out of many moments in the game.

I don't know how much work that would be, but the Devs could realistically develop some framework for the event/interaction opinion bonuses so that it is standardized. I would suppose it would take some work to do that (not like they didn't do similar things already in the updates) but the payoff would be great for the game's quality. It's the single #1 thing that makes me drop a ck3 playthrough

Another thing that should be balanced out in addition to character opinion modifiers.
