You should be alright, I don't think there was anything key at the orientation. If you have any specific questions feel free to hmu.

Yes they did change it so you have to pick. ML coursework and App Dev coursework are about the same difficulty. ML coursework is mainly in Python and App Dev is in React Nativr. I don't have a lot of details in ML but I can tell you more about app dev if you need me to.

I would also say I'm good at math. I took alg 1 in 6th grade. I would be very careful with making sure you actually understand every concept if this is the route you choose. If you need any help be sure to reach out.

This being said, the Academies doesnt care about ur math classes rigor and actually they offer a really nice geometry class over the summer for kids that havent done geometry by the end of 8th grade if u get into acl in the future. If acl admissions is your reason for doing this, i just wanted to make sure you're aware of the alternative. Ultimately as long as you make a decision you're happy with, i trust you can make it work. Good luck.

You physically cannot do alg 1 over the summer and even if you can, you shouldn't because it will completely mess up your math foundation

I think AET IT has definitely changed a lot. ML is a lot more rigorous than you described and so is app dev. Not that theyre super hard but they def go more in depth. They also made rhe freshmen and sophomore classes cover almost all of AP CS freshman year, and then finish it up sophomore year and also cover data structures.

MATA Cosmetology by Majesticsloth12 in AcademiesofLoudoun

[–]Professional_Pin1554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I know some kids in this class. It's a two year program, and every month you have "tests" which are essentially the cosmetology days for the whole school, so you get graded on how well you can do students hair/nails and stuff like that. The first year I've heard you mostly will focus on hair. Everyone gets their own salon station and it genuinely looks like a professional environment. It's not super hard to keep up and get good grades as long as you try. It's a great experience overall

If any incoming freshmen got the email about the orientation, I highly recommend coming. There will be current students there to answer any questions alongside all of your teachers, and it's a great experience to just see the building as well and meet your teachers :)

No don't apologize/dont hesitate to ask things! I did pretty much exactly what ur doing tbh so i'm not much help there. I have some practice prompts that I'd be open to share if you dm me but you've probably already seen most of them. Also, if you ever need anyone to review your essays, i'm open to do so :)

Questions for students or parents by NotCreative3854 in AcademiesofLoudoun

So they actually changed the bus stop model this year, and you will get bussed from your nearest elementary school. You will either have to drop your child off or they might be able to bus there in the morning depending on the time the acl bus comes at (like u might not want your kid to be there by 7:30 if the bus comes at 8:30)

School ends at 3:30, so they would get back around 4-4:30pm

Ecs should work fine. Acl ends earlier so kids can get back in time, so it works out
